State Farm Fire and Casualty Corpes,
A rather eventful week’s work just concluded at
the Constitutional Convention. Several articles passed
their second reading and we are now in the process of
going through reports on style and drafting for the final
wording.
The delegates turned their hacks on an
opportunity to take a stand against forced bussing of
school children. It seemed a majority felt that it would
have no meaning in the State Constitution since most of
the trouble was on the federal level. I voted for it since I
knew it would preclude any future trouble that could
occur in state courts and I also was convinced it would
send a strong message to Washington.
The Convention did muster a good majority for
the "Right to Work” provision as an option for voter
preference; so all is not lost. I personally would like to
have seen the "bussing" provision as an option. I believe
it would help liven up interest when the Constitution is
voted upon.
