and Miss Kate Gause took the

is a promising young man, being

iness qualifications. Miss Kate

Wo are still overshadowed by-
wintry clouds whose threatening
appearances, and down-falling
mists have been alKiut us now for
some twelve or fifteen days, mak-
ing our Christina* times very
gloomy.
The Christmas .it Shady drove
on Christmas evo. ivas even more
delightful than anyone thought
it would be, yet it was not a valu-
able tree, but was nicely filled
w ith various articles, and proved
to be a source oí enjoyment for
thechildren, in fa. t everyone who
attended was - cry well enter-
tained.
During the past few days some
of our friends have ha l a hog-kill-
ing time, and «luring the time
have killed nearly all the ln gs
they had. Hogs and turkeys
have died promiscuously since
the middle of the month.
Scarcity of nnaacy and bad
roads are making business dull,
and traveling almost impossible.
It is quite com monto find stalled
wagons broken down buggies
and large heaps of mtnl along the
public roads.
Christmas tricks and amuse-
ments are in order now, and some
are being played.
Mack Mitchell has recovered
sufficiently to be up and about.
He will take up liis school again
shortly, at Sh.nli Grove, which
was suspended on acco.unt of sick-
ness. i i
Mr. Hullock <>l Cook's Point,

an addition to his store house.
Dr. V. II. Shelton was riding
