SAN ANTONIO, Tex., Dec. 1s.—There
was be a big meeting of Texas railway
employees in this city Sunday.
The gathering has been convoked un-
der the joint auspices of the engineers’
brotherhood, the firemen’s brother
hood, conductors’ brotherhood and
the or ler of railway conductors.
The t. in object of the meeting is
stated to be the formulation et some
plan of campaign in the next legisla-
sure looking to beneficial results to
the workers in all departments of the
railway service. It is also hinted that
the men will attempt some organized
movement to checkmate Jay Gould in
his rapid absorption of railroad sys-
tome in the southwest. Just what
will be done in this direction b not
known. It is known, however, that
shore is a hustile spirit towards Gould
among the railroad workers in Texas
on account of the disastrous results of
the big Southwestern strike of 1886.
