FEELING "SMALL."
Naturally, many |>eople confess
to having felt "small" on various
occasions over matters of dress.
One girl tells how she went to a
parly in a new lace collar and was
inwardly-congratulating herself on
looking so nice.
Hut her findings were indescrib-
able wlieu on returning home she
found the price ticket—an unusual-
ly large one—still pinned to the
back of the collar in a most con-
spicuous position.
antiquity of tennis.
Among all the popular games of
to-day none perhaps is of greater
antii|uity than tennis, for it is
said to have originated in the ball
games of the ancient Greeks and
Romans. In the lirst place the ball
was struck bv the hand, later on
heavy gloves were worn, or cords
strapped round the palm; and the
racquet was contrived during the
fifteenth century in France, where
the game was very popular, and
thence introduced into Kngland.
FARMER WAS WISE.
"Is it not our duty," said the
moralist, "to kivp temptation out
of the way of |M<ople who may do
things they will regret?"
"Yes," answered Farmer Coro-
tossel; 'that's why 1 make it a rule
when we have summer ttoardcni to
keep the pianp locked." '
