estimates call for a 10 per cent across-the-
board salary hike for city employes and a 10-

cent jump (to $1.27 per $100 based on 60 per
cent valuation) would generate about

Councilmen Monday will also hear a
report on I-35E service road accidents,
award a bid for the purchase of library
shelving and authorize payment for a
snorkel- fire truck and delivery of cer-
tificates of obligation.
Councilmen will also consider requests
from the police department asking for
authorization ot grant applications for a
juvenile officer and for a college incentive
program under which officers receive in-
centive pay for higher education.

Laird Assumes College Committee Post
GAINESVILLE - Dr.
Alton Laird, president of
Cooke County College, has
been named to the executive
committee of the Texas
Public Community-Junior
College Association.
Dr Laird was one of two
new additions to the six-
member committee named
during the association's
annual meeting recently
. concluded in San Antonio
Also selected to begin a regarding regulations and
three-year term was Jerome, standards of the state and
Weynand, president of San
Antonio College.
Purposes of the
association, made up of
presidents of community and
junior colleges throughout
the state, hinge on providing
a means for the im-
provement of programs by
mutual association and the
exchange ol ideas. Dr Laird
said.
“In addition to main-
taining an open line of
communication to the
public,” Dr. Laird said, “the
association has among its
purposes to study and
support adequate financing
of public community and
junior colleges in Texas."
The association also
serves as a clearing house
for the latest information
federal agencies and ac-
crediting associations

Runaway Bay To Host
State Teachers Meet
BRIDGEPORT - Runaway Bay, a resort community on
Lake Bridgeport, will host a statewide conference for
teachers July 21-24
Called ■Critical Issues in Teaching," the conference will
help teachers learn practical approaches to dealing with
current classroom concerns.
Session topics include individualizing instruction,
motivating students, techniques for classroom survival, how
to deal with controversial issues in the classroom, teaching
discipline, effective questioning, standardized testing and
new reading methods
Instructors for the workshop, sponsored by the Texas
Classroom Teachers Association, are faculty members from
North Texas State University and Tyler State College
College credit in the workshop may be earned through NTSC
Board Okays FM Grants

AUSTIN — The Texas Water Rights Commission has
approved an application by Flower Mound Municipal Utility
District No. 1 to use surplus grant funds
The district was given approval to use the funds to finance
the purchase of water and sewer facilities in a tract of land
recently annexed by the district

CAMPAIGN HERE
Evangelist Doug Chambers, Aurora, Colo., who began preaching as a teen-
ager, will be featured speaker in a special series of meetings scheduled at the
Full Gospel Assembly. 209 Mockingbird Lane.
Th. campaign, which will begin July 19-July 26, 1976, will continue nightly
according to the Rev. Jack W. Howard, pastor.
Evangelist Chambers, who studied at Trinity Bible College, began preaching in
1969, when he was 19 years of age. A vocalist and song-writer, he has written
scores of gospel songs, over 40 of which have been published and recorded
an 6 stereo albums.
Special music will b. featured nightly, with the professional guitar expertise
of Rev. Chambars as well as accompaniment from his wife on keyboard and vo-
cal.
Special impact messages will touch your heart, as Rev. Chambers scope of min-
istry is for reaching with three over-seas crusades his most recent being West
