Playthings Lead
To Crime Career
DALLAS, Jan. 29. (UP).—What
makes a criminal?
Grady Kennedy, kindly red-headed
pet ial investigator for District At-
torney William McCraw. presents
above a verbal index of items potent
in causing crime.
"When modern youth, in its re-
volt ugaiast conventions, makes play-
things of pistols, explosives and
liquor, it's time for modernistic ideas

spanking," Kennedy says. "Kids don't
realize how these playthings can
take them on the downward path —
that's why we who are entrusted with
the enforcement of the law must tem-
per justice with a smile, a pat on
the back and a little good advice
when it's our son.s and daughters who
thumb their noses at the law."
Kennedy, in his role of investigator,
has delved into the background of
hundreds of cases of crime committed
by youngsters. Particulaidy does he
warn against the mixing of whiskey
beer or dope with the deadly weapon.
