The Democracy of Palls coanty
declare : uTb*t it ia tbo sense ot
this meoting that tbe National D«mo-
i eratic party ought, end shall hold a
! Motional Convention, and «hall main
tain its National organisation.
Lamar county declares:
1 bat tbe true and only way to de-
feat the corrupt ion and ma¡-sd nit -
¡stration ol tbe Badical party is to
fight it. We therefore recomrsend
that the Democratic party enter the
approaching canvass thoroughly or
gaakeed and disciplined, ana tattle
boldly for tbe right under their own
Banner.
Fanin eonn'y:
That we, as Democrats, instruct
our delegates, in State Convention,
to vote in favor of a straight ont
Democratic Platform, with Demo-
cratic Candidates, and that we make
tbe fight under oar own Banner.
Cherokee coanty :
Are opposed to any policy or
measure either in State or National
affairs, that woaid tend to disorganize
the s>*rtt, or allow it to be -Sorbed
and swallowed op in any other peiny.
We want our organixotion to remain
intact, tinder any and all circum-
stances, knowing that oar principles
are honest, true and patriotic, and
mcsi finally prevail.
A resolution of tbe Gaadalape
county convention, inetiuctbg the
delegates to vote tor tbe ratification of
the nomination of Gkeklky aad
Brown, was lost.
Tbe Hopbinaville precinct meeting
held for sending delegates to the
Goasalos coanty convention, adopted
these reaotstioas:
That tbore self-constituted Demo-
crats who advocate the fosbn of tbe
Democratic parly with a disaffected
element of tbe Radical Republican
party holding to all the principal
measure* of uearpat<oo aad centrali-
sation of that party, thereby forfeit aR
claim to the confidence of the Demo-
cratic party.
That tbe only standard ot De-
mocracy is adherence to priaciple,
and that all 'New Departures,' Tan-

ís attempts made by our
enomtas, eitherppen aad avowed, or
fo iSfiNgttfie, for iba purpose of foment-
ing discord and consequent dWnto*

therefore be dieeoaateaaoeed by all

Messrs. Tomuhsom and Hkhky, who
approved of the foregoing resolutions,

At a Democratic mass meeting
held at Corsicana, to elect delegates
to the State Convention, it is said :
Gen. S. B. Maxey was first ealled
on to address the meeting, and ia a
speech of about an hour's length gave
his aodience a straigh-out old fash
ioned Democratic talk ; denounced
Passive ism, but advised the Deniocra-
cv to remain united, and abide tbe de-
cision of the National Democratic
Convention Hie speech was able,
eloquent and pointed.
Capt. J. M. Hurt was loudly called
for, and in one of his huppiest efforts
addressed the meeting for about hall
an boar. During the coarse of bin
speech be was repeatedly cheered, and
tbe telling blows be dealt Grantisro,
Greeley ism, IWiveiam, and every
other kind of Radical ism known, will
be felt in tbe coining campaign. Capt.
Hurt is an excellent lawyer, snd has
but few superiors ag a stump speakor
in tlt« 3d Congressional District.
Capt. S. Hare was next called to
tbo ft And, and in a speech of short du-
ration ably and logically reviewed the
political situation, and wannly second-
ed Gen. Maxey'# views on the neces-
sity of tbe Democracy being united in
the coming contest. He favors a
straight Democratic nomination and
platform, but Urges tbe party to vote
together if it ia not made.
