Two WaslHiig Machines
P"\/"FI Undoubtedly toiled with an old wash
— board or worn out machine trying to
get clothes clean. The above two machines put an end to worry
for they are built so as to make clean clothes with least possible
work. They are absolutely guarantetd for five years. You are in-
vited to inspect'them.
THE ANTIS WIN
But the Vote was too Close to be Comfortable.
The Largest Since 1906. The Pros took:
the Lead but it was soon passed.
The returns began coming in
early Saturday evening and as
the first count showed a Pro
lead Jour citizens, at least a ma-
jority of them, were not very en
thusiastic and retired early and
only tthree or four remained
down town with th£ hope in view
that later reports might change
but the Pros kept the lead al-
though it was gradually and
surely cut down with each suc-
ceeding report and things began
to look bright for the Antis. In
the afternoon of the next day
the Pro lead was overcome and
the Antis forged to the front,
and although the result was
doubtful even up Juntil Monday,
they kept the lead' and the last
report which we reproduce from
the Galveston News, July 26, is
as follows:
Against Prohibition . • • 236,668
For Prohibition 230,631
Anti Majority 1.6,037
Fayette county did her share
in the defeat of the amendment.
The following is the vote:
Against Prohibition 4,509
For Prohibition..... . 591
Anti Majority - 3,918
Schulenburg went overwhelm-
ingly |against the amendment
with the following vote: -
Against Prohibition 445
For Prohibition 34
Anti Majority .411
The result of the State vote
"was a surprise to many, even to
a majority of the Pros, and the
Antis have learned that they
have an opponent that, can not
be disposed of with the simple
wave of the hand or the mere
shrug of the shoulders.
•The Sticker predicted an Anti
majority but we had no idea it
would be so close.
The advice [of the Sticker to
the Pros is to accept the result
and to retrain from contests for
it will keep
wrangle and
the state
turmoile
in a
which
might result in something much
more serious and cost the state
a loss more valuable than a few
votes. A shooting scrape has
already occurred over this ques-
tion at Lockhart between two
prominent men, Messrs. Roberts
and Putman, which, however, re-
sulted in no bloodshed. ,
Our advice to the Antis is to
stan right now to putting their
slogan, "Regulation, Moderation
and Peace," into effect. As-
sist in the enforcement of the
local option laws and see that all
other laws regulating the traffic
is kept. Then we will have
peace and rest.

pation without gripping, nausea,
nor any weakening effect. Ask
