Rotary Club of Rio Grande
City an indication that this
season might be the best yet
for the Rattlers.
Both young men, along
with Rattler Head Coach
Oscar Perez, were the guest
speakers of the club Friday
during their noon luncheon.
The Rattler mentor and
his men were confident that
this season might just be the
one for the district crown.
Garza and Rodriguez stated
that this is the best Rattler
team they have seen.
Coach Perez said that this
year's team is by far the
"best kids I have ever
coached anywhere."
The Rattlers won their
first scrimmage against
Port Isabel but last week lost
by three to Weslaco.
Weslaco ended the contest
Friday with 140 yards total
offense to Rio Grande City's
118. Weslaco made good on
one of eight passing at-
tempts. The Rattlers were
unable to make one success
in seven passing attempts.
The Rattlers open the
season at home base Friday
at 8 p.m. against defending
District 32-2A champion La
Feria.
