Attend Workshop
Approximately 150 local
1 adult educators participated
! in the Hidalgo-Starr
; Cooperative's Spring Staff
Development Workshop
which was recently held at
Edmburg South Junior High
recently.
The adult education in-
structors, supervisors,
teacher aides, and coun-
selors were welcomed to the
Edinburg site by Dr. Ruben
Gallegos, Superintendent of
Edinburg C.I.S.D Noe B
Calvillo, Director of the
Hidalgo-Starr Cooperative
for Adult Programs and
Christine Fee, Program
Coordinator, oriented the
workshop participants on the
day's activities which
focused on the current
trends in methods and
materials in adult education.
Twenty workshop
presenters representing the
Hidalgo-Starr Cooperative
for Adult Programs full-time
staff, community service
agencies, and universities
led the group discussions.
Sessions on methodology
were addressed by Sister
\ngela Marzen. "Intro-
duction to Adult Education
Methods ESI Theory
and Methodology " by Dr
Curtis Hayes. University of
Texas at San Antonio.
Teaching the t.ED Skills'
by Di Robert Eellenz. Texas
\&M University; and
Teaching Life-Coping
Skills" by Marx Catts and

1 earning Center
Discussions on the adult
assisted the Hidalgo-Starr
Cooperative's instructional
programs in addressing the
changing academic and
vocational needs of adults in
the Rio Grande Valley.
Among the workshop
participants were the
