Folkloric Dancers
To Perform Twice
The Pan American University
Folkloric Dancers will present
their annual Christmas Concert
Saturday. Dec. 15 at 8 p.m. and
again on Sunday, Dec. 16 at 2:30
p.m. in the Fine Arts Auditorium.
The two performances will
• feature a company of 30 talented
University men and women dan
cers, dedicated to he preservation
of Mexican dance art.
Traditional dances representing
the states of Yucatan, Michoacan,
Tamaulipas. and Jalisco will be
performed at each concert. One
section of the program, entitled
"Corridos Mexicanos" will focus
upon Mexican folk ballads. The
culminating event will be audience
participation in the Breaking of the
' Pinata
Conjunto Tamaulipeco, directed
by Paulino Salinas, will provide
live musical accompaniment for
the dancers. Other guest artists are
Jose Angel Villarreal, outstanding
eleven-year-old vocalist, and in-
ternationally known "floreador"
(rope twirler), Jose Luis Escamilla
of Mexico City.
The Folkloric Dancers are under
the leadership of Francisco
Alvarez-Munoz and Mary
Garza-Munoz, artistic directors,
and Amilda Thomas, ad-
ministrative director.
The public is cordially invited to
join the PAU Folkloric Dancers in
their celebration of the Christmas
season Tickets are on sale at
Chamber of Commerce offices in
Edinburg Pharr and Weslaco.
Admission is $3 for adults and $2
for children, prior to Dec. 15.
Tickets purchased at the door will
be $4 lor adults and $2 for children

including main dish, side dish,
breads and desserts, or snacks and

American University will present a
continuing education program for
nurses entitled "The Nurse of
Tomorrow" on Dec 8
The program will be held from 9
a m to l p.m. in the auditorium of
the Nursing Building on the Edin
burg campus
The presentation will explore the
past, present, and future of nursing
with emphasis on the role of the
nurse The program also will
provide information on the value of
higher education and the use of
computers in patient care

Chapa Proclaims Rattler Football Week
Starr County has proclaimed this
week as "Rio Grande City Rattler
Football Team Week" in honor of
the accomplishments of the high
school football team currently
involved in playoff competition.
County Judge Bias Chapa's proc-
lamation reads as follows:
WHEREAS, The Rio Grande City
High School Rattler Football Team
has for the past several years
consistently and victoriously repre-
sented their school and community,
and
WHEREAS, They have shared
the District 16-AAAA Championship
two times in the last three years,
and
WHEREAS, They have advanced
into State Playoff Competition
three times in the last three years,
and
WHEREAS, The Mighty Rattler
Football Team has passed Bi-
District Competition, and
WHEREAS, The Mighty Rattler
Football Team will be competing at
the Regional level for the first time
in its history, and
WHEREAS, the Mighty Rattler
Football Team's Offense rushed
and averaged more yards than any
other team in District Competition,
makinc them the Number One
Offensive Team in District 16-
AAAA, and
WHEREAS, The Mighty Rattler
Football Team's Defense was one
of the top two Defenses in District
16-AAAA, and
WHEREAS, The Mighty Rattler
Football Team has in its ranks the
Number One Rusher and the
Number One Scorer in District
16-AAAA, and
WHEREAS, Several members of
the Mighty Rattler Football Team
are being considered for nomina-
tion of All-State Honors, and
WHEREAS, The Mighty Rio
Grande City Rattler Football Team
members have distinguished
themselves by their exemplary
conduct in all football activities,
thereby bringing credit to
themselves, their parents, their
school and community;
NOW. THEREFORE. I, as
County Judge of Starr County, do
hereby designate the week of
November 26 through December 1,
1984 as Rio Grande City Rattler
Football Team Week and every
official and citizen of Starr County
and especially Rio Grande City is
urged to take note, extend con-
gratulations and continue their
interest and support to the Rio
Grande City Rattler Football
Team.
