Local Catholic Daughters
have very active December
The Catholic Daughters of the
Americas, Court Our Lady of
Mercy No. 1968 had a busy month
in December.
On Dec. 10, members of the
court visited the Retama Manor
residents. Each member of the court
presented two gifts, one for a lady
and one for a man. A communion
service was provided by the group,
and the court members also sang
Christmas songs in English and
Spanish, with the residents joining
in the singing.
Every Wednesday at 10 a.m., a
group visits Retama Manor to
provide communion service or a
rosary with the residents
participating. Everyone is welcome
to join them. For information,
contact Angelica Lopez or Thelma
Ramirez.
On Dec. 15, the members
enjoyed a Christmas turkey dinner
at the Parish Hall. The welcome
was given by Sr. Roselia Fink,
Regent, and the blessing was given
by Fr. Lee DaCosta, Court
Chaplain. Guests present were Fr.
Nacho Luna, husbands and friends
of members.
On Dec. 16, members of the
court started the traditional posadas
at the homes of court members Sara
Cruz, Thelma Ramirez, Rosie
Garcia, Sr. Roselia Fink and other
members of the parish communities
and ending at the Immaculate
Conception Church Parish Hall.
The posadas started with opening
prayer at the first house, followed
by the rosary, posada and singing,
and continued to the second house
where entrance was denied again.
At the third house entrance was
given, the rosary was completed,
followed by Scripture reading of the
day, the litany to the Blessed
Mother and ending with closing
prayer and blessing of the house.
