The hostess, assisted by Mrs. Reece
Ward and Mrs. Dudley Ellis served

CHILD HURT. AT SWENSON
Monday evening as W. E. Green
was returning home from Swenson,
three children of Mr. and Mrs. J. O.
Kennemer attempted to cross the
highway near their home, in front of
the car. It seems that two of them
saw the car and turned back, one lit-
tle boy about five yars of age went
✓\on and was struck by the car. Mr. (
Green ran off into the ditch trying
to avoivl a collision with the child.
As soon as he could lie picked him up
and carried him into the house. The
child had not regained consciousness
when last heard fiom Tuesday even-
ing. The local phvsicans could not lo-
cate any broken bones. He was car-
ried to Spur for Wray examination.
It is thought he II recover in a few

MRS MELVIN SHARP
PASSES AWAY
Death came about 1:30 Saturday
evening to relieve the suffering ol
Mrs. Melvin Sharp, who had been
very ill for months. The Sharps have
lived at) Swenson for some years.
She leaves her husband, a son, Mau-
rice Sharp, of Swenson; Two daugh-
ters, Mrs. Valera Pratt ol Lamesa.
Mrs. Bessie Rainey of Morgan. Two
brothers, Cicero and John Williams
of Post, all of whom were with her
when the end came.
Rev. John M. Rice of Abilene con-
ducted funeral services.
A large procession of relatives and
friends were in attendance. She was
laid to rest in Aspermont Cemetery.
We extend sympathy to the bereav-
ed.

grade on her fall term's work.
Johnnye Fay Callicoatte has enter-
ed into Camp Fire work in Claude as
president of the organization.
News has been received that Mis.
Loi> Zant, a former A. H. S. student,
was married recently ir. Stephonville
to Mr. Clarence Ross.
Miss Mary Jo Popplewell, chief
supervisor of Texas High Schools,
writes that she thinks Aspermont
.nay be excused for another year
from having another high school
teacher in order to hold the present
standing.
The S. D. Taylor children have re-
.urned to their places in the Asper-
mont School after being in Sweetwut
er for a while.

SIXTH GRADE
Last Friday the Sixth Grade had
Kangaroo Court. The Criminal, Mr.
\ E. Smith, was charged with hav-
i ig a pet, Edward Bryson. The law-
\ ers against him were Hermona
Shadle and Louise Jordan, and those
for him were Emelyne Link and Nell
K. Herring. Darwin Goodloe acted as
j idge. In the end the criminal was
