day luncheon of Sunset Grove
Country Club were discussed Fri-
day afternoon at a meeting oi the
hostess committee held in the
home of Mrs. Delbert Nanti. The
luncheon is- to take place on'
Tuesday, December 15, at 1 p. m.,
at the Stub house.
Members of the committee In
charge are: Mrs. Joe Lackey,
chairman; Mrs- Edgar Brown III,
Mrs- James-B. Quigley and Mrs.
Naptz.
Open House Is
H^ld At Sunset
Grove Club
Open house was held on Satur-
day night for members of Sunset'
XJrove, Country Club and out-of-
town guests from eight o'clock un-
til twelve at the club house-
Bridge games, checkers and group
singing were enjoyed during the
evening.
A similar entertainment will be
neld tonight from eight o'clock
until twelve at the club house.
These affairs , will be held each
Saturday and Sunday night
through December, for club mem-
bers and out-of-town guests only.
ELIZABETH STOVER CIRCLE
TO MEET ON MONDAY
The semi - monthly meeting of
the! Elizabeth Stover Circle of the
First Baptist Church will be held
on Monday night at eight o'clock
at the church. . Mrs; W. A. Gun-
ning Will be in charge of the Bible
lesson. All members are Jirged 'to
be in attendance.

Is Held Friday
The monthly meeting of the
Woman's Club was held on Fri-
day afternoon (at three o'clock at
the club house with about forty
members attending.
Mrs. Meade Graves presided
over the business session at which
routine reports of committee
chairmen were given. Mrsr J. M.
Schelling and Mrs- L. G. Elmore
were elected members of the
club.
The Modern Study Club, un-
der the direction of Mrs. E. W.
Brown, III, presented the pro-
gram which opened with a Christ-
mas story' by Mrs. Glen Nelson.
A talk on '.'The Sentimental and
Serious Note In Chri&tmas" was
made by Mi's. W. E,. McCorquo-
dale and "Christmas Dijirier,
Fruits and Candied, Sharing the
Holidays" was" discussed by Miss
Rozelle McKenney. Mrs. E. K,
Hubert spoke on "How to Make
Decorations With What We Have
on Hand."„
At the conclusion of the pro-
gram a tea was enjoyed with Mrs.
Meade Graves presiding at the
silver service. Christmas decora-
tions. were used throughout the
room. . Mrs. Eugene Harmon was
chairman of the refreshment comr

The next meeting will be held
on Friday,' February 4, at the club

''The benefit oyster supper spon-
sored by the St. Mary's Altar- So-
ciety on Friday evening at St.
Mary's Catholic School hall, was
reported a huge success. The hall
was attractively decorated and a
large group was in attendance.

Orange County Red Cross Mo-
tor Corps will be entertained with
a wiener roast on Thursday even-
ing at 7 o'clock at the home of
Mrs. H. S. Peterson in Pinehurst

Mrs. Morgan Richards is chair-
man of the arrangements commit-
tee for this affair which will be
planned in honor of those who
sold the most tickets in a recent
benefit.

The Woman's Missionary Soci-
ety of the Fjrst Baptist Church
closed the Week, of Prayer with
an all day meeting on Friday from
10 a. m., to 2 p. m., at the church.
Mrs. P. M. Blue, Mrs. Joe Bouch-
er and Mrs. R. D. Williamson were
in charge of the program.
It was announced that a re-
turned missionary from China
would speak at the church on

day Sewing Club was held on

bers sewed for the Red Cross. At
the close of the meeting refresh-
ments were served to the eight
members and one visitor, Mrs. Ben
