ANNEXATION OF LAND

An Act amending Chapter 418, page 766, Acts of the 52nd Legislature, 1951 (codified
by Vernon as Article 8280-146), relating to Brookshire Municipal Water
District, by adding thereto a Section permitting the addition and annexation
of land to said District In accordance with the General Laws; and declaring
an emergency.
Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Texas:
Section 1. That from and after the effective date of this Act, Chap-
ter 418, page 766, Acts of the 52nd Legislature, 1951 (codified by Vernon
as Article 8280--146) 20 shall be and the same is hereby amended by add-
ing immediately after Section 1 a new Section designated as Section la
to read and be as follows:
"Sec. la. That land may be added and annexed to said District in
the manner provided by Chapter 3A of Title 128 of the Revised Civil Stat-
utes of Texas, 1925, together with all amendments and additions thereto,
heretofore or hereafter enacted."
Sec. 2. If any provision of this Act or the application thereof to
any person or circumstance shall be held to be invalid or unconstitutional,
the remainder of the Act and the application of such provision to the per-
sons or circumstances shall not be affected thereby.
Sec. 3.. The fact, that it is necessary and desirable that said District
be able to add and annex land thereto in the manner provided by the Gen-
eral Laws relating to water control and improvement districts, creates an
emergency and an imperative public necessity that the Constitutional
Rule requiring bills to be read on three several days in each House be sus-
pended, and said Rule is hereby suspended; and that this Act shall take
effect and be in force from and after its passage, and it is so enacted.
Passed the Senate, April 23, 1963: Yeas 31, Nays 0; passed the House,
May 8, 1963, by a non-record vote.
Approved May 18, 1963.
Effective 90 days after May 24, 1963, date of adjournment.
