throughout Texas. ARTL!ES' mission is to examine, discuss, document and advocate for the
vibrant and diverse art community across Texas, through the highest level of critical writing
about contemporary art and art issues. ARTL!ES aspires to be the essential forum for the
contemporary visual arts in Texas. ARTL!ES provides this forum with the conviction that art
criticism is an indispensable part of our community. The Board of Directors maintains a
policy of inviting guest editors to edit three out of four annual issues in order to ensure that
the journal remains diverse, inclusive and representative of our multifaceted community.
ARTL!ES operates on a modest budget and relies on advertising, subscriptions and
contributions for it's continuation. Issue of ARTL!ES are distributed throughout Texas and
individual complimentary copies are mailed to over one hundred major art institutions
