Recognition was extend-
ed to Cynthia Spradlin.
She is a supervisor at the
water department and
recently celebrated her
20th anniversary work-
ing for the city. For the
past 10 years, Spradlin
has been in charge of
gathering donations for
the United Way. City
manager Eddie Brown
said that she has always
been motivational in get-
ting people to give. She
takes the time to visit
each department, and
during those visits, she

Students charged
in beating case
At least five Sweetwater High School students were
charged with misdemeanor assault charges stemming
from an assault that occurred near the softball fields
in Sweetwater last August in which Riley Gilmore, a
Roscoe High School student, was severely injured with
a broken nose and broken leg as a result of being beaten
by at least 10 students.
According to administrators at Sweetwater
Independent School District, a report of the probation
terms has not been received. Until the report is received
and the terms of the probation are rev iewed, the stu-
dents will remain at the school. Depending on the sever-
ity of the charges and terms of probation, the students
may have to attend HOBBS alternative school or face
other consequences.

ments to be made — make them.
The Nolan County Court at Law is implementing a new
way for those owing court costs and fines, to pay off their
debt.

when they do not pay their fines or court costs," County
Court at Law Judge Gary Harger said.
The money that is not paid is counted as a loss to the
county. There are those that are paying off their fines in jail,
but the county is still seeing a loss. With this new communi-
ty service program, the county will be seeing some benefit.
