Longtime residents
leaving Sweetwater
Philip and Willie Ruth Teague are leaving the
Sweetwater area after living here for 62 years. Since
they are experiencing declining health and are ages
92 and 89, their children are moving them to Duncan,
Oklahoma, to be near their oldest son.
Philip Enoch Teague and Willie Ruth Bahlman mar-
ried Dec. 19, 1943, in Runnels County, Texas, and
have been married just over 66 years. They moved to
Sweetwater in 1948, where they raised three children, all
graduates of Sweetwater High School. Robert (married
to Louise) Teague lives in Duncan, Oklahoma. Phyllis
Teague Cash (married to Larry Cash) lives in Corpus
Christi. Bill (married to Mary) lives in Waco.
Mr. Teague worked in the Civilian Conservation Corps
and was in Chilian Public Service during World War II
years. After moving to Sweetwater, he worked in a cabi-
net shop, as a building contractor, as a television and
electrical equipment repairman, for Holiday Rambler
trailers, and for Ludlum Measurements before retir-
ing. He became a board member of the Christian Relief
Fund and made five trips to India for mission work and
to check on the administration of church-sponsored
orphanages and two trips to Honduras for similar pur-
poses.
Mrs. Teague was busy with raising three children less
than three years apart in age. She was always busy with
sewing, quilting, gardening, canning and freezing, cook-
ing and keeping the home.
The Teagues are members of the Normandy
Avenue Church of Christ and count many friends in
the Sweetwater area, especially those from the Senior
Nutrition Activity Program (SNAP). Because of their
faith, they are looking forward to whatever the future
holds with anticipation.
