EFC sending mi ss ion
team to Haiti
On January 12, 2010, a 7.0 magnitude earthquake struck
the nation of Haiti, killing thousands of men, women and
children and leaving more than 3 million lives in need of
immediate assistance. Many children have lost their par-
ents. Families are torn apart. A city of over 1 million is left
in shambles. Though a year has come and gone since the
incident, relief work is far from over. Many homes remain
piles of rubble. Hundreds of thousands of families live in
tents made of tarp and scrap metal. Food is still scarce, jobs
are even more difficult to find, and there doesn't seem to be
any way out. The Haitian people need the hope and encour-
agement that can only be found in Jesus Christ.
This summer, July 8-14, a mixed team of adults and high
school students from Emmanuel Fellowship Church will
be going to Haiti to assist in bringing the love of God to
this physically and spiritually devastated country. During
this life changing week the team will be ministering to the
Haitian people through orphanage visits, prayer walks,
relational evangelism, home visits, tent city visits, sports

Optimist ic financial
outlook for RPMH
BY BELINDA SERRANO
Staff Writer
The Nolan County Hospital District (NCHD) Board
of Directors met for its regular monthly meeting on
Monday evening, March 28, at Rolling Plains Memorial
Hospital.
At the meeting, the board opted to cancel the 2011
NCHD Board of Directors election. Because the candi-
dates were unopposed in three positions - in Districts
3, 4 and 7, the board approved the cancellation.
In other new business presented during the meeting,
approval was given to accept the RPMH Performance
Improvement Plan. The Home Health PI Plan and
Home Health A.A. and Alternative & Assisted Services
PI Plan were reviewed and approved as well, due to a
slight change in wording.
Also approved was the Nursing Staffing Committee
Report. It was noted that four additional nurses have
been selected to serve in the committee, and various
ideas were presented and offered during the last meet-
ing.
The board also appointed a new interim director for
District 6, something which was presented at a past
meeting. While several names were presented and dis-
cussed among the board, the final decision was made for
Jose Villafranca to serve in that capacity.
A variety of other approvals were given, including the
minutes from the previous meeting. Regarding finances,
the board approved the February 2011 accounts lyable
and payroll, the bad debt write-off list, and the financial
statements.
fear to date, the overall financial outlook was report-
ed as very optimistic. For the total revenue in the month
of February, outpatient costs came in over budget, while
inpatient costs were under budget. Overall revenue

April Fool's Day surprise
Instead of seeing bunnies and chicks for the beginning
of April, Sweetwater Reporter's Managing Editor
Tatiana Rodriguez found a special surprise on April
Fool's Day at around 5:30 a.m. on Friday morning.
Flying around in the editorial department of the
Sweetwater Reporter building was a small bat. The bat
landed and Rodriguez managed to get the bat safely
out of the building.
