Registration
New student registration begins
Monday, Aug. l, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.
at the campus offices: J. P. Cowen, 700
West Fourth Street for Pre-K; Southeast
Elementary, 1201 Mustang Drive for all
Kindergarten and first grade students;
East Ridge Elementary, 1700 East 12th
Street for all second and third grade stu-
dents; and Sweetwater Middle School,
305 Lamar, for all sixth, seventh and
eighth graders.
Big Country Dance
The Big Country Dance will be held
from 7:30-10:30 p.m. on Monday, Aug.
1, 2011, at the Nolan County Coliseum
Annex in Sweetwater. Admission is $5
per person and entertainment will be
provided by Exit 249.
Soccer Registration
Sweetwater Youth Soccer registration
will be held from 5:30-7 p.m. on Monday,
Aug. 1 and Tuesday, Aug. 2 and again on
Friday, Aug. 5 at Hibbett Sports cated
at 1008 East Broadway Street. There
will be no late registration. Sweetwater
Youth Soccer is open to boys and girls
between the ages of 4-12 years. The soc-
cer season start on Saturday, Sept.
10. Registration is $45 per child and $40
for each additional sibling. Sponsorship
is also being accepted. For more informa-

Volleyball Camp
Volleyball Camp will begin Monday,
Aug. 1, for girls in grades third through
seventh based on the 2010-2011 school
year, at the Sweetwater Middle School
Gym, located at 305 Lamar Street. Camp
hours will be 9-11:30 a.m. for girls in
sixth and seventh grade, Monday through
Friday and from 1-3:30 p.m. for girls in
third through fifth grade Monday through
Thursday. Camp fee is $35 and lcludes a
T-shirt. Those attending will be able to
improve their skills in volleyball with
instruction through games and competi-
tion. Concession stand will be available
for snacks and drinks. Pre-registration is
appreciated.
Church Day Camp
First Salem Lutheran Church of Roscoe
will be holding a day camp Monday, Aug.
1, through Friday, Aug. 5, from 9 a.m. to
4 p.m. each day, for children ages 4-10.

Let's T; Books
Let's Talk Books, the book club of the
County-City Library, will meet at noon
on Tuesday, Aug. 2, in the meeting room.
The book selection is In This House of

Jump Rope Camp
Jump Rope Camp will be August 2-4 at
the Sweetwater Intermediate School gym

The Adult Literacy/ESL class will meet
at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 3, at the
County-City Library. Instructors will help

The local WIC office (Outreach
Health Services) will be having a World
Breastfeeding Celebration at 3 p.m. on

be games, prizes, food and fun.
Blood Drive
Meek Blood Center will be in Sweetwater
on Thursday, Aug. 4 for blood drives. The
bloodmobiles be parked at the Nolan
County Courthouse and at the Lions Club
building on Lamar Street from noon to
6 p.m. All donors will be entered in a
drawing for a Texas Rangers prize pack-
age which includes four tickets to see the
Rangers vs. LA Angels on Friday, Aug.

SHS New Student Registration
Registration for high school students
new to Sweetwater High School will be
Thursday, Aug. 4 am Friday, Aug. 5,
from 9-11 a.m. and 1-3 p.m. in the SHS
Counseling Center. This registration is
for students not previously enrolled in
Sweetwater ISD. Freshman students who
attended Sweetwater Middle School were
ire-enrolled last spring. Students must
ring a copy of their birth certificate,
social security card, proof of residency
and records from their previous school. A
parent or legal guardian must accompany
students under the age of 18.

Saturday, Aug. 13
NVFD Fundraiser
The Nolan Volunteer Fire Department
will host its annual fundraiser from 5:30-
8 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 13, 2011, an
all-you-can-eat briske meal with all the
fixings. Adult plates will be $10 and any-
one under 10 years old can eat for $5. The
Nolan Volunteer Fire Department chefs
will be taking advance orders for brisket
to go at $50 for a full brisket and $35
for 1 hall brisket. To place an advance
order, call Mark Morrow at 325-338-
8899 or Rolan Petty at 325-236-5496.
This fundraiser is the only one the VFD
puts on each year. All donations are
greatly appreciated.

SISD Meet the Teachers
SISD will be holding "Meet the
Teachers" for the 2011-12 school year
starting on Tuesday, August 16 at SHS
from 5-6 p.m., with J.P. Cowen following
from 6-7:30 p.m. On Wednesday, August
17, SMS will hold their orientation from
5-6 p.m. Thursday, August 18 will have
three meetings, starting at 5-6 p.m. at
Southeast (K and 1st), 5:30-6:30 p.m. at
SIS, and ending with East Ridge (2nd and
3rd) from 6-7 p.m.
SCS Meet the Teachers
Sweetwater Christian School will have
a Meet the Teacher event from 5:30-6:30
p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 16. ill parents
and grandparents are invited to attend.
Refreshments will be served.
Friday, Aug. 19
Ragball Tournament
A ragball tournament is being held for
Xavier Molinar, son of Regina Alarcon
who was recently died in a car accident.
The tournament will be held Friday, Aug.
19 and Saturday, Aug. 20, at Winston
Field in Snyder. Cahoma rules apply.
Entry fee is $175 per team and teams need
to be registered by 6:45 p.m. on Friday,
Aug. 19. The first game will start at 7 p.m.
Prizes based on 65 teams include first
place, $2,500 and second place $500.
Prizes based on 50 teams are first place
$1,500 and second place $500. Prizes
based on 30 teams are first lace $800
and second place $200. The field will be
split into three separate fields. Clean rest-
rooms and concessions will be provided.

Saturday, Aug. 27
DARE Shootout
The Nolan County DARE Shootout,
hosted by the Nolan County Parents
Association, in cooperati on with the Nolan
County Shooting Sports Association and
the Nolan County Sheriffs Office, will
take place on Saturday, Aug. 27. 2011, at
Rattlesnake Ridge Sporting Clays, one
mile west of Sweetwater on 1-2*0. Exit
240, go north through the TSTC cam-
pus past the airport and water tower.
Follow the signs. The 15th annual event
benefits Blackwell, Highland and Roscoe
DARE programs. Teams and individuals
are welcome. Times are 8 a.m., 10 a.m.,
noon, 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. with the cham-
pionship shootoff at 6 p.m. Cost is $30
per shooter and $150 per five-shooter
team. There will be giveaways and prizes.
Pre-registration is not required, but rec-
ommended. To pre-register or for more

Reserved Season Football Tickets
Reserved season football tickets to Sweetwater
games for the 2011 season will be up for renewal
to the current option holders beginning Monday,
July 18 Friday, Aug. 5. Tickets may be
purchased at the Sweetwater ISD administration
building, located on 207 Musgrove. Tickets are
$30 for Sweetwater's five home games which
will be against Vernon on Aug. 26, Monahans
on Sept 2, Early (homecoming) on Sept 16,
Big Spring on Oct. 14 and Brownwood on Oct.
28. Reserved ticket sales for the general public
will go on sale on Monday, Aug. 8. The last day
to purchase season tickets will be Friday, Aug.
19. Tickets will be sold during regular business
hours. Anyone with questions is asked to contact
the Sweetwater ISD administration office at 235-
8601, ext. 116.
