Kailynn Guzman is pictured here with the drawings and photographs she won ribbons on at the West Texas Fair and
Rodeo that took place from Sept. 9-17 in Abilene, Texas. In all, Kailynn brought home nine ribbons, most of which
were first through third place winners in the Fine Art and Photography categories. Her photos and drawings were dis-
played for the duration of the fair in the Round Building at the Expo Center. Kailynn was also awarded a cash prize
for each first through third place ribbon. Dianna Adams and Joe Rivera are her guardians.

Elks lodge special

The Sweetwater Elks Lodge would like to thank Danny
Hickson for the time and effort he put forth this past
weekend in helping out with the Darrell Campbell benefit
lunch and dinner. Danny brought his cooker up to the Elks
Lodge on Thursday Sept. 22, marinated the brisket over
night and cooked the brisket Friday night. He also spent
the majority of the day at the Elks Lodge on Saturday help-
ing to cut up the brisket for those who attended the benefit
lunch and dinner. "We greatly appreciate the effort put
forth by Danny," an Elks Lodge member said.

Sometime between July l, 2011 and Sept. 23, 2011,
unknown person(s) entered onto an oil field lease located
in the eastern part of Nolan County on CR 222 about three
miles south of Interstate 20. The person(s) then took a 45
foot tandem axel, bumper pull pipe trailer, 100 joints of 2
3/8 inch drill pipe and about 140 3/4 inch sucker rods.
Crime Stoppers will pay a cash reward for information
received this week that leads to an arrest or indictment in

Adelina Castro Morales
The Angelo State University Alumni Association
will recognize distinguished alumni, honorary
alumni and outstanding faculty and staff during
its annual Homecoming Dinner on Friday, Oct.
14, in the LeGrand Alumni Visitors Center, 1620
University Ave.
Sweetwater native Adelina Castro Morales is this
year's honoree for Distinguished Staff Achievement,
selected for her outstanding service and longstand-
ing dedication to Angelo State University. She is the
daughter of Joe and Frances Castro of Sweetwater.
Morales and her husband, Alfred, have two sons,
David and Adrian, both graduates of ASU,
A staff member in the ASU President's Office
since shortly after she graduated from ASU in 1980,
Morales currently serves as executive assistant to
the president. In the 30 years since she was hired,
she has served three presidents and one interim
president, working effectively under their varied
management styles and efficiently handling the
many tasks and functions necessary to keep the
office operating smoothly. Her daily interactions
range from students, faculty and staff to parents,
educational leaders and all levels of government
officials.
The annual awards dinner has been renamed
the ASU Homecoming Alumni Dinner Bonfire Ball
and Bash, and is open
to the public. Activities
will begin with a cock-
tail reception at 6 p.m.
in the LeGrand Center's
Norris Ballroom, followed
by the Bonfire Ball din-
ner and auction at 6:30
p.m. Complimentary valet
