AARP
The Nolan County Chapter AARP will not
meet due to the remodeling of the SNAP
building.
City Closings
The City of Sweetwater business offices
will be closed on Monday, Jan. 16, for Martin
Luther King, Jr. Day. There will be no resi-
dential refuse service on Monday, Jan. 16,
and services will resume on Tuesday, Jan.
17. Residents are asked to be patient as the
trucks and staff will be running one day
behind, but will catch up during the week.
Commercial refuse will be picked up on
their scheduled days. The citizen's drop off
center and Type IV Landfill will be closed
on Monday, Jan. 16, an reopen at regularly
scheduled hours on Tuesday, Jan. 17.

Writing Workshop
Everyone has a story to tell. Learn how
to tell yours at a free writing workshop,
"Telling Our Stories," from 1:30-3 p.m.
each Tuesday, Feb. 7, 14, 21, and 28, at the
County-City Library. Linda Linn, Ph.D. in
English and writing will be teaching the

January Artist of the Month
The January Artist of the Month at the
County-City Li bran is Larry Cornoyer.
His artwork is displayed in the com-
munity room of the library. The hours
of the library are Monday from 1-6 p.m.,
Tuesday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5
p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Book Dona tions Sought
The County-City Library is currently
accepting donations of both adult and
children hardback and paperback books,
magazines and videos for the annual
book sale which will be held Aug. 17 and
18 at the Nolan County Coliseum Annex.
Come to the garage door in the alley
behind the library to unload the dona-
tions during business hours. Call 235-
4978 a few minutes before arriving at the
library to enable staff to be ready to help.
The hours of the library are Monday from
1-6 p.m., Tuesday through Friday from 9
a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m.
to 1 p.m.
Reckner Account
A benefit account had been set up for
Paul Reckner at First Financial Bank,
account number 10110056750. Reckner
recently went through back surgery and
has been readmitted with an infection.
All donations will go towards medical
bills and travel expenses due to his hos-
pitalization.
Coats for Kids
Bahlman Cleaners is accepting dona-
tions for children in need. Coats, jackets,
sweaters, hoodies and anything consid-
ered winter weather clothing are needed.
Bahlman Cleaners accepts donations
year round, but with winter upon us, the
need is even greater. Donations can be
dropped off at Bahlman Cleaners, located
at 910 E. Third Street. For more informa-

An account has been set up at Texas
National Bank for James and Steve
Chapman, who lost their home and vehi-
cle to a fire on Saturday, Nov. 19, 2011.

Sweetwater Fastpitch
Softball Association
The Sweetwater Fastpitch Softball
Association will be holding an aluminum
can drive this off-season. Those wishing
to participate are asked to save empty
aluminum cans to donate to the associa-
tion. Bring empty cans - crushed or not
crushed - to the bin located in front of The
Water Jug, located at 920 E. 15th Street,
across from Trinity Baptist Church. Can
donations will be cashed in to help offset
costs during the 2012 softball season.
Galvan Account
An account has been set up at Texas
National Bank for Triston Galvan, who
was in an automobile accident on Friday,
Aug. 12, in Abilene. Triston is the seven-
year-old son of Joseph Galvan and grand-
son of Jose Galvan of Sweetwater. Triston
is presently at the Pediatric Intensive Car
Unit (PICU) at Cook Children's Hospital
in Fort Worth. Money will be used for the
family's traveling and lodging expenses.

Darrell Campbell Account
Donations are being acceptedfor Darrell
and Amber Campbell at First Financial

Snyder Police Corporal Darrell Campbell
was recently injured in the line of duty.
He is a former Sweetwater police officer.
Gomez, Daniel Account
An account has been set up at Texas
National Bank to help the families of
Candice Gomez and her two children
and Bianca and Jeremy Daniel and their
two children, who lost their home and
all of their belongings in a house fire.
The children's ages are 13, 9, 5 and
16 months and clothing sizes needed
include sizes 2T and 5T, Size 3 diapers
and wipes can also be donated. Other
clothing sizes are men's size 32 pants
and men's large shirts, women's medi-
um and large tops and sizes 9 and size
11 bottoms, men's size 10.5 shoes and
women's size 7.5 shoes. Donations can
be taken to 804 E. 15th Street or by call-
ing 325-513-0243. Any household items
and furniture can also be donated. All
donations are greatly appreciated.
Garrett Account
A benefit account has been set up
at Roscoe State Bank to assist Janice
Garrett, who lost all of her belonging
in the fire at Jack Lambert Apartments
on May 15, 2011. To make a contribu-
tion, go by the Sweetwater branch of
RBS or mail donation to P.O. Box 317,
Sweetwater, TX, 79556.
Torres Account
An account has been set up for
Coralyn Torres at First Financial
Bank to help pay for medical expens-
es. Coralyn suffered a brain aneurysm
on March 21. After being in ICU for
three weeks, she is undergoing physical
therapy at Transitional Learning Center
in Lubbock. The account number is
