juniors. The eight home games will
make the schedule somewhat easier for
the Owls. The 1035 Owls' schedule
was made harder than ever because
the majority of their hardest games
were on the road. At one place in
their schedule the Owls were on the
road for l'our out of five Saturdays.
These games included a trip to Wash-
ington, DC.
One of the reasons for the transfer
of the A. and M. game is that in Hous-
tion it is expected to draw a much
larger crowd, The A. and M. game
will bo one of the outstanding of the
season, since the Farmers are doped
as one of the two leading teams in the
conference, They will probably be fa-
vored with the T.C.U. Honied Frogs to
capture the title. Aggie officials are
planing to make the Rice game a
corps trip again next year. This will
add the color of the A. and M. student
body of from 2500 to 3000 cadets.
Boxers at Kice began practice in
earnest this week as they prepared to
form a team to enter In the Centen-
nial State A. A. U. championship
tournament to be held February 3, 4,
and 5 at the City Auditorium.
The team will not be entered offi-
cially under Rice Institute's name, ac-
cording to Dr. Harry Scott, director of
Physical education. The team hopes to
gain offidal recognition soon, how-
ever.
The boxers will train under the di-
rection of Chester Hayes, state boxing
and wrestling champion. Hayes re-
ports that he has uncovered several
real prospects at Rice and expects to
have a squad of about 20 men by the
time of the meet.
Prospects for the Owl team are
heavyweight; Paul Cole, Drew Elliot,
Clifford Long and Frank Hairston;
middleweights; Hayes, Le Roy Rogers;
lightweight: Charlie Moore, Floyd
Mechler.
In the lightweight division Hayes
believes that he has a real prospect in
Addison Barnes, a fast, hard-hitting
puncher. Christian will represent the
fly-weight division.
The A. A. U. meet will furnish some
real competition for the new Owl team.
It is sponsored by the American Legion
Post No. 485. The leading amateur
mittsmen of the state will be entered
as the prize for the outstanding win-
ners will be an all-expense-paid trip
to the National A. A. U. meet In
Cleveland during April.
