HOUSTON MALE AND FEMALE
im ACADEMY.
A Chance to Edncate your Children.
Mr. James A Holinger,
LATE of Kentucky, respectfully informs the
citizens of Houston, that his school is now
established on a permanent basis at the Masonic
Hall, near the Presbyterian Chuch. Mr. B. having
had seven years experience in teaching, in some
of the best institutions of Kentucky and Tennessee
is fully competent to instruct in every department
The government in this Institution wul be mild,
though firm, decisive and uniform. Harshness and
severity will be always avoided. Strict order,
prompt obedience, and constant industry will be
required as the only means of securing the ends of
the Teachers or fulfilling the hopes of the patrons.
The morals and deportment of the pupils will be
especially cared for, and carefully guarded. Thor-
oughness in all the departments «f an academical
education is kept in view—scholars will be taught
to think add to rely^upon their owd efforts for suc-
cess. A daily'record of the behavior and recita-
tions of the scholars will be kept, and a mdbthly
report sent to their parents, or guardians. But while
a spirit of emulation is thus excited, higher motives
to diligence are presented, by appeals to the under-
standings and consciences of the pupils, as moral
and accountable beings. Strict attention paid to
the physical as well as the moral and intellectual
training of the pupils.
The regular course of instruction in this Institu-
tion will include a Primary Department, a Junior,
a Middle and a Senior class. The studies of each
of the classes will occupy one year.

BRAGG'S IMPROVED LINIMENT
The greatest Medical Invention ol the present
day is undoubtedly, Bragg's Arctic Liniment
This wonder-working medicine iS carrying the day
triumphantly wherever it is introduced. It needs
only airial to establish its efficacy in all cases of

old sorks, nkuraliga. BURNS,
sprains, scalds, bruises, &c..&c.&.,
Such are the wonderful healing properties of
Bragg*s Arctic Liniment, that it will almost imme-

and all diseases or the skin.
Some of the cures performed by this Liniment are
truly wonderful. Mrs Hempstead, living on Wash
ngton avenue St Louis, had been, for several years
confined to her bed by Rheumatism, and during a
great portion of the time, suffered untold agony
from neuralgia of the face. After vainly endeavor-
ing to get relief from the prescriptions of many emi
nent physicians, and using a score of bottles of the
various nostrums, advertised to cure these diseases
she was induced by a friend to try the Arctic Lini-
ment, and the result was almost magical. Before she
had used a whole bottle, her pains were entirely gone
and by the time she had used six bottles, she was
completely restored to health. A whole Journal
might be filled with cures as wonderful as this, but
one is sufficient to establish the fact that the Arctic
Liniment will cure, when everything else fails. It
is *4a balm for every Wound,** and thousands who
have tested Its virtues, now rejoice in freedom from
pain and disease.
It is also a sovereign remedy for nearly all dis
senses of animals, and more than three thousan
Farmers, Livery Stable Proprietors and raisers od
horses, have given their certificates, after having

Important to Females—Dr Cheese man's
PilK-fhe combinations of ingredients in th^se
Pills, is the result of a long and extensive practice;
they are mild in their operation, and certain of re-
storing nature to its proper channel. In every in-
stance have the Pills proved successful. They are
certain to open those obstructions to which females
are liable, and bring nature into its proper channel
to a healthy one. No female can enjoy good health
unless she is regular; and whenever an Obstruction
takes place, whether from exposure, cold, or any
eause, in general health immediately begins to de-
eline, and the want of such a remedy has been the
cause of so many comsumptions among young fe-
males. Headache, pain in the side, palpitation of
the heart, loathing of food, and disturbed sleep, do
most always arise from the interruption of nature;
and whenever that is the case, the Pills will invari-
ably remedy all these evi Is. In all cases of painful
menstruation, or nervous and spinal affections in
the back and limbs, lowness of spirits, hysteries,
&c. Nor are they less efficacious in the cure of
Leucorrhcea, commonly called the "Whites." These
Pills should never be taken during pregnancy as they
would be sure to cause a miscarriage. Warranted
purely Vegetable, and free from anything injurious
to life or health. Full and explicit directions which
shouM be read, accompany each box.
These pills areput up in square flat boxes. Persons
residing where there is no agency established,by en-
closing One Dollar in a letter, prepaid, to Dr. C. L.
Cheeseman, Box No. 4,531. Post-office, New York
can have them sent to their respective addresses by
return of mail.
