America s First Line of teiense
★ America i* on (he alert. In thie flaming
world, the beat guarantor of sernrity and peace
m adequate preparedness for defense. An
aroused nation is intent on making these United
Slates so strong, so well defended, that no nation
or group of nations dare attack us.
★ What constitutes defense? In other days, it
was trained manpower, weapons, and food. To-
day, these things are necessary, yes—but most
important is industrial production. The mufti-
fade of requirements for mechanized warfare
kas now ma«le industry America's first line of
defense.
★ The key to s!eppe<l-up industrial produc-
tion is POWEK—more POWER—to move the
wheel* of industry faster, ever FASTER.
★ FUEL is power. Today, Natural Gas plays a
major role in industrial production. It provides
industry with the flexible, abundant, clean
•ource of dependable energy adaptable to the
high-speed, highly specialized production meth-
wis of our modern industrial svstem.
These classes are being set up es-
pecially to help those registrant*
who want to join the Army, but who

were unable to read and write the
