FACTS ABOUT
BUTANE
VDJUSTING BURNERS
It is possible that in a new
system, burner* will have to be
re-regulated after a week or so
of operation. This is because
some air is in the pipes anrl
other parts, and the butane g.
absorbs some of this air while
passing through the system
later on, when pure gas be-
gins to flow through, the gn«
air mixture may be on the rich
side and need to be leaned out
If the burner is burning pro-
perly, it produce* a clear, blue
flame with no flicker If you
listen closely, you can hear a
faint ro«rtng sound.
If the flame is flickering
sketchy, and intermittent, and
seemingly rises i l*<ut the burn-
er top*, there is too much air
for the ga* (or, t«> put K ano'her
way, too little gas for th«* air)
Thus the tmount of air must
l>e decreased or the amount
of gas increased To permit a
variation oi the air, each burn-
er ha* a shutter attachment
Opening the shutter increase
the amount of air; elosing the
shutter decreases it.
If the flame has a yellow
or red cone and produce* smoke,
there is Uk little air for ihe
gas, and the shutter must be
opened some.
