Have You Heard This One —?
As the tory goes, "the average Texas farmer awaken*
at the ring of his Connecticut alarm clock — he puts on his
Ohio overalls to go in for breakfast of Kansas City meat and
biscuits made from Minneapolis flour, who of which have
been prepared on a Pittsburgh, Pa., stove. Then he hooks
up an Illinois plow to turn furrow after furrow of his rich
land, covered by « wall street (New York) mortgage. He
finishes a full Jay's work and upon retiring, sleeps soundly
on a Grand Rapids, Michigan, bed, that is until the barking
of his Texas dog, the only Texas product on his farm, wakes
him up! Then he wonders why he can't make money on
a farm!"
THERE MAY BE SOME TRUTH IN IT, BUT WE BELIEVE
There's Nothing Wrong With
BASTROP
Here is proof that there is nothing wrong with Bastrop.
It is true that we make no alarm clocks, overalls, stoves, or
beds; but we do work together! Not all in the same place,
but all for the same purpose. So, we ask you, if you can buy
the same article in Bastrop as elsewhere and at the same
price, will you trade in Bastrop? Of course you will! That
is another proof of nothing wrong with Bastrop because you,
too, will be helping to make this a better town, a happier
town, a more prosperous town and a town with greater
benefits for all its people. Read the retailers' advertisements,
then you will see that they are doing their part.
