A jeep driven by Chris (iiIIhtI,
famous University of Texas foot-
ball player, completely burned up
Monday atxiut 1 a. m. here. Gilbert
was drivinu a jeep that belonged
to Corbin J. Robertson of Houston,
from Davenport Ranch a Ik we Aus-
tin to a ranch near Houston. He
knew the jeep was on fire and
stopped at the Shell Station on
Highway 71 to get help and im-
mediately after stopping the jeep
was engulfed in flames. According
to Bast rop Chief of Police. Add I
Powell the Bastrop Volunteer Kile
hi partment answered the call but
the jeep had already burned.
The jeep was a comparatively
new one with only about 600 miles
registered on It.
