Tonight in Sewall Hall 301 at 7:30 the University
Athletic Review Committee will hold an open
meeting to solicit opinions from students, faculty,
alumni, jocks, weanies, and all others who have an
interest in the future of intercollegiate athletics at
Rice. The importance of this Committee's work calls
for a wide spectrum of input from all elements of the
University. It's your chance to be heard, whether to
bitch or to praise—don't miss it.

Rubash apologizes for serving spoiled shrimp Sunday
To the students of Rice:
Sunday, March 7, 1976,
College Food Service menu
had as an entree fried shrimp
This item was purchased and
stored in the freezer at Central
Kitchen as usual. However,
Sunday, when the shrimp was
being prepared for lunch, it
became apparent to the
kitchen staff that some of this
shrimp was not the usual
quality we serve.
Monday morning I called
the seafood company from
which the shrimp was
purchased and discussed the
problem with them. They
informed me that I was the
second customer in two days to
call them about this product.
After checking their operation
trying to determine the cause
of the problem, they called the

company in Florida dis-
covered that the shrimp
shipped was not thoroughly
frozen before leaving their
plant for Houston via freezer
transport. According to the
manufacturer, since the
product was not hard-frozen
before shipment, the quality
deteriorated in transit. This
was not apparent when the

did not become known until
Sunday morning.
I regret that the students
were inconvenienced by this
uncontrollable situation.
Please feel free to call me at
527-4957, or come by my office
at Central Kitchen to discuss
any problems, ideas, likes and
dislikes, or anything pertain-
ing to Food Service. Students
are always welcome at Central
Kitchen.

YNH tactics objectionable
To the editor:
Recently Rice has been
subjected to saturation
advertising in the name of
Christianity (YNH, if you
haven't already heard). This is
demeaning to the Rice student
and the religion. Madison
Avenue mind control is
beneath both of them.
Resorting to psychological
tricks in order to reach people
is tantamount to admitting
that rational methods—i.e.,.
discussion and argument—
won't work. Any handbook of
propaganda will note that it is
to be used only on the masses,
the people who could not
understand the cause
otherwise.
Secondly, I feel that
propagandizing is foreign to
the personality of Christ. The
YNH campaign, along with
"Honk If You Love Jesus," has
no Biblical precedent or
justification. Try to imagine
Paul spending time putting up
ads all over Rome. If you can't,
it's because he didn't. He
spent his time working with
people, not slogans.
I am not attacking the RCC
itself, except as they use such
tactics. I am willing to forgive
their choice: selling Christian-
ity seems to be popular these
days. But that's no reason to
do it.
