Re: Edward B. O'Neill
d/b/a Lightbourn Travel and Tours -vs- LULAC
Dear Mr. Gonzales:
This office has been retained by Mr. O'Neill to assist him in the recovery
of $4,018.00 due him while doing business as Lightbourn Travel and Tours,
a travel agency in southern California located at 666 East Ocean Boulevard
in Long Beach, California. It is my understanding that there has been
conversations and correspondence between you and Mr. O'Neill in regards to
settlement of the above described debt.
It is my further understanding that this office has closed locally in the
southern California area but that the LULAC National continues as well as
other corporations formed under that organization. The above described debt
was incurred by the local LULAC office for travel expenses of its members
and this debt has been acknowledged by you in your correspondence with Mr.
O'Neill asking for moratorium on the payment of that debt.
At this time I am putting you and your office on notice that unless this
debt is paid within thirty days, that U.S. Federal District Court action
will be brought against your organization asking for the principal amount
of the debt plus interest and punitive damages in the amount of $50,000.00.
Punitive damages are warranted on the basis that the debt was incurred with
the knowledge that the bill would not be paid and that the local office was
to be closed as well as the continuing none payment of this bill by your
organization.
Finally, you have received from Mr. O'Neill, statements indicating the principal
amount of the debt plus interest to date. The interest on this bill plus the
principal to date runs in excess of $4,500.00. Any settlement should be in the
