Mrs. Doris Goodrich Jones of
Waco presented a delightful puppet
show. Mrs. Jones began her career
as a hobby and found the work
extremely fascinating. She has de
voted most of her time to this type
of work since 1934 creating her
own characters and writing the
plays.

cers for the Officers Wives Club
to be voted on at the May lunch

Jamboree Donation
Mrs. Hopkins announced that the
Officers Wives Club has made a
donation of $250.00 for the purpose
of sending one Fort Hood Boy
Scout to the National Jamboree
which will be held in Santa Ana
Calif. this summer. A letter was
received by the club from General
Doan expressing appreciation.
Girls' Camp
Announcement of plans for the
Girls' summer camp was made by
Mrs. S. S. Porche. The camp is
for all daughters of military per
sonnel on the post and is sponsor
ed by the Dads' Club. Mrs. Porche
asked for volunteers for camp
council work including the teach
ing of arts and crafts. Ladies who
have had experience and are inter
ested in being employed as camp
director may apply and arrange an
interview with Mrs. C. L. Gomel

sack lunch) and leave at 12:15
to attend an afternoon of fun at
Camp Tahuaya. The afternoon
will be a combined monthly pack
meeting for April and May. The
afternoon will be spent in hiking
sports and awards with an excel
lent dinner by campfire before
returning to Fort Hood.

We are very proud of Brownie
Troop No. 10. They have done
wonderful work this year having
accomplished many things. Their
project during March was the
making of puppets and putting on
a puppet show.
Jackie Woods a Brownie in
Troop No. 10 had a birthday
March 10 falling on their regular
meeting day so she invited the
troop to help her celebrate her
birthday.
The greatest accomplishment of
Troop No. 10 was the winning of
"Troop of the Month Award" for
February and March. Troop No. 10

candy sale. Plans were discussed
and presented to the Leaders Club
at their monthly meeting by Mrs.

meeting in the absence of Mrs.
Clarke. The registrar reported reg
istrations due in April are past due.

was decided to have the cookie and
candy sale. Mrs. Bergheimer is to
act as cookie sale chairman. The
dates are not definite but are ten
tatively set for May 1 and 16. The
places and use of profits by troops
will be announced at a later date.
The next tour of the post is to
be on Saturday April 18. Hostesses

"Andante" the one-act play en
tered by Fort Hood went a step
further toward state competition
when it won first place at area
contest in Austin April 11. The
next presentation will be in the
regional contest at San Marcos on
April 25.
Acting honors in the area con
test also went to Fort Hood with
Leo Guibault and Barbara Doan
taking first place as actor and ac
tress.
The entire cast and the direc
tors Mrs. Franks and Mrs. Cul-
well have done excellent work
with this play and are to be con
gratulated on their accomplish
ment.
JUNIOR RINGS ARRIVE
A happy day for the Juniors was
Tuesday April 7 when they re
ceived their senior rings. It has al
ways been the custom for Fort
Hood senior rings to be delivered
late in the junior year since so
many of the students leave during
the summer.
SENIOR TRIP
The date for the senior trip has
been set for May 8-9. The class
will visit the Mayan Dude Ranch-
in Bandera.
ANNUALS ARRIVE
Delivery on the "Leopard" for
1952-53 was made by the Taylor
Publishing company on April 7
fully a month earlier than expect
ed. Since that day the most com
mon expression heard throughout
the school has been "Will you sign
my annual?" Since this was to be
the last annual for Fort Hood
high school the staff tried to make
it the "biggest and best" and all
agree that they succeeded in their
aim.
