Last February the
commanding general of the 1st
Armd. Div. Maj. Gen. John K.
Boles Jr. had the opportunity
to attend a unique course in
computer studies.
Gen. Boles left Ft. Hood on
Jan. 29 for Endicott N.Y.
where he studied computer
concepts in modern business
management.
The International Business

concepts course began Feb. 1
and was designed to give
individuals an insight in the use
of in
business management.
The course enabled the Old
Ironsides commander to have
a better working knowledge of
the techniques and equipment
used in the Army's Combat
Service Support Systems (CS3)
program now being used at Ft.
Hood.
Gen. Boles returned to Ft.
Hood on Feb. 9 following
completion of the course.

Lt. Col. Mcllroy has served
as Cavalier commander since
May 1968. His next assignment
will take him to Germany.
Lt. Col. Moore joins the
Cavaliers and Hell On Wheels
following graduation from the
Command and General Staff
College at Ft. Leavenworth
Kan.
Lt. Col. Moore served in
Vietnam as a district advisor
before rotating stateside and
attending school.
Moore is a graduate of the
University of Tennessee.
His awards include the Bronze

Infantryman Badge and the
Vietnamese Fourraguerre.
Picnic Planned
For Chapter
Of 1st Armd. Div.
The Old Ironsides chapter of
the 1st Armd. Div. Association
will hold its quarterly picnic
July 18 at 3:30 p.m. at Picnic
Area No. 2 adjacent to division
headquarters.
In coordination with he
picnic the Old Ironsides chapter
is on in a iv
membership drive to gain new
members to the chapter. All
military personnel serving with
the division are eligible to join
the Old Ironsides chapter of the
1st Armd. Div. Association.
It is expected that more than
2000 members of the division
will participate in the picnic.
Also the Old Ironsides chapter
of officers.

Unit Command
Lt. Col. Miles C. Vaughn Jr.
assumed command this week of
the 1st Bn. 41st Inf. 2nd Armd.
Div. in ceremonies held in the
battalion commander's office.
Lt. Col'. Herman H. James
former battalion commander
began duties as assistant chief
of staff G-l Tuesday.
Lt. Col. James had been with
the battalion for one year.
