You can tell its summer
television when the plot of a
new series concerns two
feuding siblings hoping to
inherit their father's pickle
factory!
That's the idea behind
"Thicker Than Water" an
ABC hot weather entry that
first surfaced last Wednesday
night.
Julie Harris and Richard
Long star as the two hopefuls
while Malcolm Atterbury has
the role of the father.

for years while the son hasn't
been seen for five years till
the father is about to kick the
bucket.
As such I thought the
characters a bit stereotyped
though Miss Harris fits her
role perfectly. Her face sort
of looks like the one who has
lived her life devoted to
pickles!
Dad didn't pass away in
the first show though he did
host a party for all the
workers in the factory. From
his sick bed he doled out
presents to all the faithful

This show is another im

the established hit "Nearest

Oh yes Dad did give the
business to the two feuders
under the condition they live
together and run the business
for five years. However I
don't think they need worry
this show won't last five

American Bandstand had
their 20th anniversary
program Tuesday night via
ABC's Wide World of Enter
tainment.
The world's oldest teenager
(next to Doris Day) brought
back some of the top acts
that made their debut on the
old daytime tv dancehall.
We got a 1959 film clip of
Annette singing "Tall Paul"
a look at Fabian making the
girls swoon and of course
Paul Anka.
The show was well-
produced and imaginative.

Shots of 1973 dancers were in
terspersed with older film
footage and oh those 1950
skirts! They looked like the
Granny dresses of the late
60's.
There was also a Cheech
and Chong visit as the
famous comedy pair rated a
record though a great deal
was bleeped out!
Incidentally Clark's
production firm also handled
Roberta Flack's first TV
special earlier the same
evening. The show ran 30-
minutes and the popular
songstress sang all her hit
records. Seals and Crofts a
folk duo also guested.
WELCOME TO MARY'S
HOUSE—CBS brought Mary
Tyler Moore and a film crew
to Minneapolis recently to get
some new exterior shots of
her apartment house.
Network officials however
neglected to check with Mrs.
Clayton Giese owner of the
house before they arrived.
They were greeted with
"Impeach Nixon" "Clean
Rest Rooms" and "For
Sale" signs all over the
house next to the house
prepared to become a TV
star.

British hit was beautiful
The frustrated camera
crew left without a single
frame leaving a disappointed
home owner who had figured
her political sally would have
been great publicity.
Mrs. Giese claims she gave
CBS permission to film her

footage would be used "in a
documentary or something."
Subsequent notoriety made
her change her mind. She
particularly objects to bus
tours running past her home
