Christinas
THE message
by June Dove Leong
m to '
''Hypercri tics! Tnat is what they are. I don't want
to join the church to be like them!"
frightening...accusatory...searing. Yes, there were
imperfections in the church. Questioning the faith
...i held back.
Through the years, I grew into the realization tnat
the image of the faith, was gained through the knowl-
edge of Christ.
And people...scarred...ugly...distorted...finger
pointing...critical... were acceptable in God's house
...just as they are.'
He encompassed all...ana from that starting point...
He willingly molds and shapes the clay to its
ultimate potential.
None are born perfect...for if perfect...where would
be the need for churches...or for any learning insti-
tutions. The finished product, the perfect model....
is Jesus...and is acquired through effort, study, and
a willingness to submit oneself to an acknowledgment
of the fact that the imperfect can be made perfect
through His influence working in us.
Church is much like school. As students, we become
open and receptive to the word of God.
The tests...are the tests of life. The examinations
are sometimes difficult, and at times, we feel we are
not ready and dread to take them. In prayer we
plead, "Lord, please do not make me drink this cut)!"
The grades are given to us at the Last Judgment.
','ve may not be all awarded IGGfr. . .but. . .how very much
we want to score a passing grade.
Dn December 25th, we celebrate the birth of Christ...
all over the world. He humbled Himself ana came to
us in the body of man, so that we may know him ana
his purposes for us.
In His lifetime, He showea us how to overcome death,
and the evils of a Satanic spirit.
The invitation is for ALL of us just as we sre
in our pitiable, human form not worthy...
even to gather the crumbs at Lis feet from off the
floor. ..*...
