Wrigley Says
Dean To Name
Own Return Date
Manager Grimm Indicates
Star Is Ten Days Away
From Old Pitching Form
CHICAGO — (UP) — Dizzy
Dean can name the day he
wants to pitch again for the
Chicago Cubs, Owner Phil K.
Wrigley announced today.
After a brief huddle with
Manager Charlie Grimm over
X-rays of Dean's ailing pitching
arm, the youthful magnate fin-
ally dccided "Diz can work any-
time he thinks he's ready."
Grimm, who likely will have
the final word on Dean's next,
starting assignment, indicated
the idle star is a week or 10
days away from actual pitch-
ing form.
"We've been told that Dean's
arm is still sore", Wrigley said.
"However, the physician who
has been working with him be-
lieves pitching will make it no
sorer and will do no further
damage.
"If he shows he can't pitch,
then we may have to put his
arm in a cast."
