St. Paul Council Pledges Support.
Boy Scout work in St. Paul, Minn., was
given a new impetus at a meeting of the
Local Council held on Tuesday, September
22. At this meeting each of thirty mem-
bers of the Council was asked to pledge
himself to raise $100 for the work of the
Scout Movement for the coming year. This
will give the St. Paul Council $3,000 which
will be sufficient to clear up the present in-
debtedness and leave $2,500 for new work.
After the first year the annual budget will
be $2,500.

Safety First Lecture For Scouts.
Boy Scouts throughout the country are
taking considerable interest in the Safety
First movement. Already individual troops
and some Local Councils are outlining ways
and means whereby they can co-operate
with the Safety First organization in their
respective communities. Undoubtedly there
are numerous ways in which Boy Scouts
can do their good turn along this line and
incidentally assist in the prevention of ac-
cidents and possible loss of life.
The Safety First organizations in the
various cities and States throughout the
country will gladly furnish suggestions on
this subject to troops that are interested.
The Director of Safety Education in New
Jersey, Mr. A. J. Van Brunt, has very
kindly offered his services to Scoutmasters'
associations in his State. He is willing to
appear before meetings of Scoutmasters
in any New Jersey town or city and explain
just how Boy Scouts can co-operate along
Safety First lines. We appreciate Mr.
Van Brunt's offer and gladly pass the sug-
gestion on to Scoutmasters and Commis-
sioners as one of the interesting topics that
might be taken up in Scoutmasters' meet-
ings this fall. Anyone interested should
address Mr. Van Brunt, in care of the
Public Service Corporation, Newark, N. J.
(Continued from page 1.)
Scoutmasters will be handled in this way:
If the Scoutmaster has the certificate num-
ber 300, his assistants will have numbers
300-A1, 300-A2, 300-Aa.
Certificates for Scout Officials.
The attractive certificates for Scoutmas-
ters have been reduced to the size of the
pocket certificate and, as announced be-
fore, these will be sent to all Scout officials
unless they especially request a certificate
suitable for framing.
These certificates for framing can be had
by those who desire them for twenty-five
cents each. They can be had framed for
$1.50 with French plate glass, or for $1.00
with celluloid instead of glass, delivered
any place in the United States,
Assistant Scoutmasters, as well as mem-
bers of Troop Committees, should be en-
couraged to keep posted about Scout work
by subscribing for the semi-monthly bulle-
tin, Scouting. A space is provided on the
blank to care for this in each case.
