Libel Damage From

CHICAGO. (t"P)—Sewell Av-
ery, chairman of the board of
Montgomery Ward and compa-
ny, has filed a libel suit ask-
ing 81,000,000 damages from
Marshall Field as publisher, ed
itor and owner of the
Sun.
Avery's complaint charges the
paper with a series of "false,
malicious" statements in articles
on and after May 15th that held
him "up to pubiie hatred."
The suit was filed in federal
district court by John MacLeish,
Avery's attorney.
