Annual Lincoln Play
Presented In Illinois
CHICAGO. (UP)—An Abraham
Lincoln tradition to rival the
Shakespeare tradition of Eng-
land's famous Strattord-on-Avon
is being developed at New Sal-
em state park, Illinois.
In a setting neyi ly identical to
the one in which Lincoln lived,
Robert Sherwood's play, "Abe
Lincoln In Illinois," is played
each year. Stage furniture in-
cludes pieces used by Lincoln
when lie lived at New Salem.
Forty actors, known as the
Lincoln players, are in the sup-
porting cast. Sixteen scenes, all
usinK authentic props, including
a team of live oxen, comprise the
production.
With the approach of winter
and cold weather, Fraley &
Reeves Gas Company has their
butane distribution facilities in
readiness for the big job of sup-
plying customers of this area.
Some customers have instal-
led additional storage tanks that
are already filled with gas be-
fore the oiislought of winter and
others are planning the instal-
lation of additional storage tanks
in the near future.
Last year a serious gas short-
age was felt in this section of
the state as consumer demand
surpassed the capacity of re-
fining and distribution facili-
ties. With the installation of ad-
ditional storage tanks by cus-
tomers. it is hoped that a similar
shortage may be avoided this
winter.
Fraley & Reeves, local butane
distributors, have all their stor-
age tanks filled to capacity and
transport and delivery trucks
are in readiness for constant
service. The amount of gas that
may he handled bv this firm will
greatly relieve a possible short-
age. The local firm is already in
steady operation filling storage
tanks' and doing their part in the
struggle to supply an adequate
amount of gas.
Fraley & Reeves Gas Service
maintains stores in Sweetwater.
Roby an<> Rotan and the firm
serves many customers over
this area.
In addition to butane and pro-
pane gas, Fraley & Reeves stores
handle a complete line of all
kinds of gas ranges, adaptable
to the use of natural gas as well
as butane gas. There is a wide
selection of all kinds of stoves,
ranges and appliances on dis-
play at these three stores.

flyer's Club To
Be Organized
Here Says Eder
Sweetwater flyers or those in-
terested in learning aviation may
own an airplane at little expense,
according to A. J. Eder, owner
and operator of West Texas
Aviation, hangar number 2 at
the Municipal airport. "A fly-
ing club will be formed in the
near future and a number of
members may own their own
plane and thereby get flying time
at a low cost," Eder explained.
The type of plane that will be
purchased by the flying club
will depend upon the desires of
the members, it was pointed out.
There are a number of airplanes
available that are especially
suited to club ownership and
operation. Lusoombes, Aeroncas,
Piper Cubs, Taylprcraft and
other makes of airplanes aire
suited to pilot training and may
be operated at a low cost.
A flying club, ranging from
eight to twelve members will
be formed to purchase the ajr-
plane and this may be done.sdt
a nominal cost to the individual
flyer. All rules and regulations
governing flying time alloted to
each member will be worked out
by the owners themselves and
these rules of operation will al-
low each member adequate fly-
ing to obtain his pilot's license.
Flying clubs are in operation
in almost every city of the state
and this method of learning to
fly at minimum cost has gained
widespread popularity. especWI-
Iv since the war. Many flyers
that are flying commercially to-
day. learned to pilot an airplane
in a club-owned ship.
