Cooper Education Library
The third floor of the main library houses a collection of over 20,000 curriculum materials. Among
these are state adopted and non-state adopted textbooks, curriculum guides and other teaching aids,
teaching units, children's literature, and books relating to the theory and practice of education. Also
available are young people's and children's encyclopedias, and other audio-visual aids.
Smith Music Library
Smith Music Library is a repository for over 13,000 volumes including books, scores, periodi-
cals, and other documents of music. Also in the library are over 9,000 phonograph records,
CDs, and audio and video tapes including the concerts and recitals of the School of Music.
Special collections include the W. Hines Sims Hymnal Collection, the Caldwell Beckham
Chamber Music Collection, the Sigma Alpha Iota bindings of Dr. Andy Patterson's manu-
scripts, and the complete published works and manuscripts of Dr. T.W. Dean, dean of the
School of Music from 1967 to 1981. The newest addition is the Dr. Thurman Morrison
Collection of Hymnology, which contains hymnals and other items from the 17'1 through
the 20'h centuries (such as the 1647 King James Bible with bound-in Sternhold and Hopkins
Psalter). The Morrison Collection contains over 1,000 hymnals and other scores and books,
mostly from the 18'h and 19"' centuries.
Educational Technology Services
Housed in the main library, the Educational Technology Services provides for an integrated
learning resource system by allowing innovative approaches to classroom instruction. It
contains computers and audiovisual equipment plus a library of films, videotapes, recordings,
and other materials.32
