EVERY SPRING, WHEN THE SAP BEGINS to rise, a
certain outside bakery tries something- new on the citizens of
Sweetwater for the purpose of getting their bread business.
This Spring they have decided to pull a little of the home
town idea because they are of the opinion that the majority of
Sweetwater people will never know the difference. To carry
out their scheme they started ysterday by running an AD-
VERTISEMENT in the Sweetwater Reporter as a Sweetwat-
er organization, giving their telephone number and street ad-
dress. If you will look up the street address and telephone
number, you will find that it is a local garage where they store
a truck. All of which goes to sh ow they play Sweetwater people
for a bunch of suckers.
THE TRUTH ABOUT AIR-CONDITIONED BREAD —
Because the people have becom e air-conditioned minded of
late, the above mentioned bak ery seized upon the term as a
sales point—even though it is a misleading one. Bakers have
used steam in their ovens since the beginning of the industry
but this firm decided to call it air-conditioning because the
people were and are interested in it as a modern improvement.
Let us state emphatically that the only so-called air-condit-
ioning applied to an oven is th e use of steam—and every bak-
er uses steam but all are not so misleading as to call it air-
conditioning.
GO TO THE CORNER OF LOCUST AND FIRST STS.
and you will see a concrete exa mple of the value of buying pro-
ducts made and sold in Sweet water. You will see Sweetwater
labor constructing a modern bakery building under the
plans of a Sweetwater architect, with materials purchased
from a Sweetwater lumber ya rd. If more of our people trad-
ed at home there would be more of such examples of the ad-
vantages of trading with local concerns.
IN A SHORT TIME YOU PROBABLY will have a girl
call at your door and tell you about this "wonderful" bread,
and that they employ local la bor and so on and etc.
MAY WE SUGGEST THAT—IF THEY WANT SOME OF
THE BREAD BUSINESS OF SWEETWATER, WHY NOT
BUILD A BAKERY HERE AN D STOP USING EVERY
KNOWN SUBTERFUGE in an effort to get the business
without deserving it.
ruiHic Notice
We will continue to give you the best loaf of
that can be purchased in this town.
