Three Double Plays
Aid In Downfall
Of Internationals
Gulf gained a half game on
the idle Magnolia-Medico crew
last night by defeating Interna-
tional Harvester in a good game,
11 to 5.
International started off right
"oy scoring a run in the first,
only to allow Gulf to score 11
in the second and third to ice
away the game. Stevenson pitch-
ed capably except for the two
bad innings, setting the Gulf
crew down with a measly 5
bingles while the International
crew collected 9 hits off Lee,
Gulf hurler. Errors on both
teams accounted for the runs
scored, as only one run was
earned.
Bibb and Greer for Interna-
tional collected two-thirds of
their team's blows by getting 3
each, while Cartwright hit twice
for Gulf. Three double plays by
Gulf aided in the victory. A
double play in the second in-
ning, LaRue to Absher to Kyle
staving off a rally. In the fifth
inning, LaRue caught a fly ball
and threw to Kyle at first to
cut off another International
rally. In the sixth inning, a dou-
ble play LaRue to Absher cut
short another Harvester rally.
International staged a desper-
ate last inning rally, scoring 4
runs and bringing the crowd to
its feet before McGlothlin made
the final out to retire the side.

Young-Starrs
Defeat Ponies
In Loop Game
Dark Horses Have
Bad Inning When
Scores Flock In
Dark Horses played the second
place Young-Starrs a good game
until the final inning last night
when they blew up and allowed
16 runners to tally to lose a hec-
tic ball game to Young-Starrs,
29 to 4. >
Under new management, both
clubs showed the results of their
recent workouts, hitting the tfill
solidly and scampering around
the bases with more ease. But
a series of errors rattled the
Dark Horse .players, and combin-
ed with some lusty swatting by
the Young-Starr lassies, paved
the way for the one-sided de-
feat.
Homers Klasted
Redden of Young-Starrs and
Dorothy Jones of Dark Horses
blasted home runs to lead the
batting. Several players scored
