On Saturday evening, the
tenth of April the marriage of
Mr. Harvey Bennett and Miss
Julia Stevens was solemnized in
Mexia at the Pastbrium, the
Rev. C. R. Taylor officiating.
Perhaps the spirit of wilful
April, persuading Youth and
Love, was responsible for the
unusual in this wedding in
which our interest finds a pecu-
liar charm.
On Monday evening the
twelfth of April, the original
date of the wedding, a throng
of guests were graciously re-
ceived by the host and hostess,
and other relatives of the bride;
! at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Er-
i nest Watson. The softly lighted
land beautifully decorated inte-
rior held an atmosphere filled
with the fragrance of romance,
and those who entered became
a part of the expression of
I friendly warmth. Voices gay
| with laughter and sweet with
memories of love-crowned days
gave mutual greetings, while
Howers and music, and groups of
graceful girls, attendant beauty
to the occasion, heralded the de-
light of a dream's fulfillment.
Tables spread with gifts of sil-
ver, china, crystal and finely em-
broidered linens evidenced the
esteem of many friends. All the
forget-me-nots of marriage
scenes laced a sympathetic back-
; ground for the bridal pair. At
| the appointed hour, standing be-
neath a flower starred drapery
of vines, the bride and groom re-
peated before the assembled
company their vows. All the

The executive committee of
the Mexia Commercial Club met
in regular weekly session Mon-
day night and considered vari-
ous subjects of interest to Mexia
community.
It was decided to have a May
Day Festival the first Saturday
that we have a ball game in
Mexia.
It was decided to have a bus-
ness mens banquet some time in
the near future in order to get
together and spend an hour so-
cially and discuss matters of in-
terest to our city. Date will be
fixed later.
The committee pledged its
moral support and influence tp
the band boys in their efforts
to attend the big Confederate
reunion at Richmond, Va., next
month. • The boys will need
some financial assistance to
make the trip and as it will be
a big advertisement for Mexia
our people should see to it that
they get off on the trip.
It was decided, in order to
facilitate the collection of the
monthly dues of the members,
that all accounts not paid by the
15th of the month be placed in
the hands of a collector. Also
that delinquent accounts of last
year be placed in the hands of a
collector at once.
The committee bases its plans
on the amounts subscribed and

It Always Helps
says Mrs. Sylvania Woods, of Clifton Mills, Ky., in
writing of her experience with Cardui, the woman's
tonic. She says further: "Before 1 began to use
Cardui, my back and head would hurt so bad, I
thought the pain would kill me. 1 was hardly able
to do any of my housework. After taking three bottles
of Cardui, 1 began to feel like a new woman. I soon
gained 35 pounds, and now, 1 do all my housework,
as well as run a big water mill.
I wish every suffering woman would give
CARDUI
The Woman's Tonic
a trial. I still Jise Cardui when 1 feel a little bad,
and it always does me good."
Headache, backache, side ache, nervousness,
tired, worn-out feelings, etc., are sure signs of woman-
ly trouble. Signs that you need Cardui, the woman's
Ionic. You cannot make a mistake in trying Cardui
for your trouble. It has been helping weak, ailing
women for more than fifty years.
