THE JEFFERSONIAN humbly Intends to carry out the mandate ol
Our Divine Lord: "Going, therefore, make disciples of all nation*,
baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son and ol
the Holy Ghost, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded
you." Its only purpose is to serve the HISTORIC CHURCH of the
Christian ages to whom the DIVINE FOUNDER spoke these words,
of sacred promise: "Behold 1 am with YOU all days even unto th
consummation of the world."
Reverently dedicating all its effort* to Mary, the Mother of Oui
Lord, THE JEFFERSONIAN asks; her to use her motherly power to
help uh achieve our objective, namely, bringing a knowledge of Christ
and the one, true Church He founded into the pine woods, wide open
spaces and cactus land of Texas.
Divine Dictator
(Continued from page 1)
to eat of His very flesh and
drink His Bl#od. The refusal of
some of (he Savior's disciples to
believe was noted as well as the
invitation on the part of Christ to
the Apostles themselves to de-
part also If they too would view
as a "hard saying" these words
of the Redeemer: "EXCEPT you
eat the flesh of the Son of God
and drink His Blood, you shall
NOT have life in you."
A DICTATORIAL CHURCH
The establishment of a dicta-
torial organization to teach those
truths which the Divine Dictator
declared men would have to be-
lieve or else be condemned and
the spread of this institution un-
til the year 313 when the Emperor
Joined It, building St.. Peter's In
Rome, — these facts were also
documented.
At the conclusion of the homily
an appeal to return to unity was
voiced to nil separated through
no fault of their own from this
visible Church of the ages.

dressed to all, black and- white,

St. John.
My dear spiritual children In
Christ,
BORN AMIDST POVERTY
Almost 2,000 years ago tonight
in a cold stable on a hilly slope
of thp, town of Bethlehem the
Son of God in human flesh was
born. Amidst the poverty of a
stable the Ring or King* made
His entrance into thin world.
To announce the arrival of this
King of Kings for 4.000 years the
prophets of Judea had told the
Jewish people when, how and
where the expected Messiah
would appear.
"Behold a virgin shrill conceive,
and bear a Son. and b|R name
t<hall be called Emmanuel," said
Isias (7:14).
"And thou, Bethlehem. Ephreta.
art a little one among the prince*
of Juda but out of thee sbal) He
come forth who shall rule thy
people lat'nel," wrote Mtchaee
the prophet.

day an angel tU*t .|

choeen by th« Almighty Himself
to fee that virfln of vfrflas about
whom Islas had written in these
words: "Behold a virgin shall
conceive, and bear a Son, & his
name shall be called Emmanuel."
The angel Gabrel as a messen-
ger froin Heaven appeared to
Mary and addressed her as fol-
lows: Hail, full of grace, the
Lord is with thee: blessed art
thou among women." (Luke, 26
38). The Blessed Virgin, troubled
by the angel's reference to her
is "blessed among women," was
puzzled at the way the angel had
greeted her. ,
"HE SHALL BE GREAT"
Gabriel, noticing the perplex
ed look on the face of the holy
Virgin, said: "Fear1 not, Mary,
for thou hffct found grace with
God. Behold thou shalt conceive
In thy womb and shall bring forth
a Son and thou shalt call Hip
name Jesus. He shall be great
and shall be called the Son ol
the Most High, and the Lord God
shall give unto Him the throne
of David his lather: and he shall
reign in the house of Jacob for-
ever, and of his kingdom there
shall be no end.'*
Dedicated as she was to holy
virginity, the Blessed Virgin ask-
ed the angel: "How shall this
be done, because I know n o t
man?" '
A FITTING PLAN INDEED
The angel Gabriel then reveal
ed the plan most fitting -for a
person of the dignity of the very
Son of God.
"The Holy Ghost shall come up-
on thee," said Gabriel, "and the
power of the most High shall
overshadow thee. And therefore
also the Holy which shall be born
of thee shall be called the Son
of God."
MUCH DEPENDED ON MARY
The Immaculate Lily of Israel,
the most beautiful flower among-
st all the women of all tithe*,
answered. "Behold the handmaid
of the Lord, be It done to me ac-
cording to thy word." Because
he Lily of Israel said, "Be it done
unto me according to thy
word," the Son of God
Jecame man, the first Christ-
mas wan made possible, and the
whole world received the graces
of its redemption on the Cross.
On that first Christmas night
Mary's cooperation with the
nlan of God made possible the
entrance into this world of Him
Who could, on the eve of His Pas-
sion, address these words to God
the Father: "'And now do ttodu,
Fr., glorify me with Thyself with
the glory that. I had with thee
BEFORE the World existed."

founding of their order by a Po-
lish noble woman in Rome was

presiding at a special Solemn
Mass of thanksgiving sung by
Very Rev. Father Vincent Wolf,
dean of Tyler in the beautiful
hospital chapel. The above Pic-
ture was taken during the jubilee

Him Whom Gabriel said would
be called the "Son of God."
Why aid God in His Provi-
dence raise up the holy prophet
isias to predict #t h a t a virgin
would conceive and bear a Son?
Why did an angel of the Lord
tell the Virgin Mary that the
Holy Ghost would overshadow
her and that that which would
be born of her would be no orii-
tary son but GOD HIMSELF?
Why in the bitter cold of the
windswept hills of ancient Beth-
lehem was this unusual Child
born of an Immaculate and un-
spotted virgin? Why did this
Babe of Bethelem enter this
world?

Mary's Divine Son Himself un-
swered this question. To those
who were about to sentence Him
to die Jesus said: "For this was
I born, and for this came I into
the world, that I should give tes-
timony to the truth. Everyone
that Is of the truth, hearpth my
voice."
BORN TO TEACH TRUTH
To (each truth, to restore men
to their lost heritage, to lead all
souls to Heaven — that's why
the Babe of Bethlehem was born.
That's why we have Christmas.
What the origLnal sin of
Adam, the head of the human
family, had lost for men the Babe
of Bethlehem came to regain for
men. To make reparation for ori-
ginal sin and thereby to reopen
the gates of Heaven locked to
the human rac« God allowed
His own Divine Son to take hu-
man flesh. With no obligation to
restore Heaven to mankind God
nevertheless in His infinite love
promised to sen His Son. That
son born of the Immaculate
Virgin of Nazareth on the first
Christmas Day, by one small act
could have redeemed the human
race. But because His love for
sinful men w s so deep, Jesus
offered every drop of His
Most Precious Blood as repara-
tion for Bin.
GOD 8ETS THE TERMS |
To lead men to Heaven Is the J
reason why Christ was born. But
men cannot, go on their own
terms.
"For (his waB I horn, and for
this came I into the world, that I
should give testimony to the
truth," declared Our Lord on the
eve of His death.
JH08E WHO BELIEVE AND

tized shall be saved. He that be-

SPOKE AS REAL DICTATOR
Shocking as it is to those who
hate totalitarianism in religion,
Our lord spoke and aVted like a
dictator. Without asking anyone
what they thought the Redeemer
said these blunt things: "Except
you be born again of water and
the Holy Spirit, you cannot enter
the Kingdom of God." "He that
belleveth and is baptized shall
be saved." "CWess you do Pen-
ance. you shall all likewise par-
ish." "'Not everyone Wh says,
lord, Lord,' shall enter the King-
dom of Heaven but who does
the will of My Father In Hea-
ven." "Except you eat the flesh
of the Son of Man and drink His
Blood, you shall NOT have lifa
in you."
These are only a few of the
Divine dictator's dictatorial state-
ments. They are all rammed up
in these words of Christ: "He
that belleveth not shall be con-
demned."
On another occasion this same
Divine Dictator, whom we honor
today. Speaking of the condemned
declared that at^the and of the
world He wouij say unto them:
"Depart, ye accursed, into ever-
lasting fire."
8ELIEVE OR GO TO HELL
With a fiery fate In eternity
awaiting those who don't beli-
eve what Jesus says should be
believed — the truths that the
Babe of Bethlehem taught take
on very serious importance.
