Friday evening 20th lust wo took (ho
train for Wlder. Saturday morning wo
weut to Hopkinsville and. with the aid of a
live Sunday school worker had a good
meeting Saturday night and organized a
Sunday school. A. collection was taken up
to buy bookstand papers and $2(1 60 was re-
ported. Sunday morning we rodo to
ThoiupHouville and with Itev. Farwell of
the M. E. Church revived a Methodist Sun-
day school. A subscription was taken and
a good Bum was .subscribed to purchase a
Library. It is thought as much as $30 will
be raised iu a fow daysnd a good supply
will be bought at once of the publishing
house at Nashville.
Sunday evening we returned to Hopkiu--villo
where the funds had been raised to $34
and the poople were alive with interest nud
zeal iu the work.
There is quite an exoitement there on ac
count of a large Mexican lion prowling
through the woods. It is very daring and
has been chasod by dogs and shot at but
still holds its ground and is heard nearly
every night roaring in the woods.
Preaching last Sunday night by Rev. Gnu.
ne gives Harwood a rogular monthly ap-
pointment. '
Dr. Sewel tells me that the health of tho
people is generally-good.
The time is drawing near for the semi
annual meeting of the Hays county S. S.
convention which meets at Oyster Croek.
We hope those interested will take time by
the fore-lock and make the meeting a suc-
cess and by gathering reports from over tho
county show to the world that Hays county
stauds in tho front rank in Sunday school
interests. Scott.

Home Life.
Poople may well rejoice that so
large a part of lifo lies oct of tho
range of politics. "Ye have our daily
work and its fruits wo have our
outdoor amusement and our indoor
diversions we have our farms and
country life all independent of tho
wrangle and contention and Bcandal
and embitterment of political partis-
anship. Tho Indian simmer the
wool cock the partridges tho quail
the bickorynnts the chestnuts tho
porgeons forests and the falling Uaves
the ride the drives the walks.
these are not the exclusive propf-rtv
of any party. I it not fortunate that
so large ft part of human life lies out
side the range of politics?
