The Texas State Genealogical Society, a non-profit educational corporation of the
State of Texas, was founded November 2~8, 19,60, in Fort Worth, Texas, by Mrs. Edna
Perry Deckler. Its purposes are to enrich the wealth of genealogical and historical research
material in Texas and to make it more readily available to all who seek their
family and local history; to help in the organization of genealogical societies in areas
where none exist; to onsobt schools and institutes in the State of Texas for the scientific
study of genealogical research; to publish periodically on a non-profit basis a
magazine or other media pursuant to the purposes of the Society; and to acquire and
deposit in libraries and other places of safe-keeping genealogical and historical records,
documents, personal diaries and manuscripts, and other source material.
QUARTERLY MAGAZINE: The Texas State Genealogical Society Quarterly,
STIRPES, is published each year in March, June, September, and December. It presents
unpublished data on genealogical subjects. (As our ancestors were not limited to any
one area, our published material is not limited to the records of Texas.)
SUBSCRIPTIONS: Non-members of the Society may subscribe to STIRPES for
$6.0'0 per calendar year, or purchase single issues when available for $1.50 each. Members
receive STIRPES without the payment of any fee other than their membership
dues each calendar year, and members may purchase single issues of STIRPES, when
available for $1.25 each issue.
MEMBERSHIPS: lRegular membership dues are $5.00 per calendar year. Contributing
membership dues are $10.00 per calendar year. The only difference between a
Regular and a Contributing Member is that the Contributing Member pays more in
dues for the work of the Society. When no participation in the efforts of the Society is
made, a subscription rather than a membership is in order. The Board of Directors has
the privilege of approval of all applications for membership.
Individuals, libraries, societies, interested business firms, and amateur or professional
genealogists may apply for membership by writing to the Society at its official
address (25228 University Drive, South; Fort Worth, Texas 7l1109) and enclosing dues.
Checks or money orders should be made payable to the TEXAS STATE GENEALOGICAL
SOCIETY.
