TEXAS STATE GENEALOGICAL SOCIETY

Fort Worth 9, Texas
The Texas State Genealogical Society, a non-profit educational
corporation of the State of Texas, was founded November 28,
1960, in Fort Worth, Texas, by Mrs. Edna Perry Deckler. Its purposes
are to enrich the wealth of genealogical and historical research
material in Texas and to make it more readily available to
all who seek their family and local history; to help in the organization
of genealogical societies in areas where none exist; to
sponsor institutes, or schools, in the State of Texas for the scientific
study of genealogical research; to publish periodically on
a non-profit basis a magazine or other media pursuant to the purposes
of the Society; and to acquire and deposit in libraries and
other places of safe-keeping genealogical and historical records,
documents, personal diaries and manuscripts, and other source material.QUARTERLY MAGAZINE: The Texas State Genealogical Society
Quarterly, STIRPES, is published each year in March, June, September,
and December. It presents unpublished data on genealogical
subjects. (As our ancestors were not limited to any one area, our
published material is not limited to the records of Texas.)
Unpublished genealogies, pedigree charts with references,
maps, photographs, Bible records, and other related material should
be submitted to the Editor, Mrs. Edna Perry Deckler, 2528 University
Drive, South; Fort Worth 9, Texas, for publication.
Non-members of the Society may subscribe to STIRPES for $6.00
per calendar year, or purchase single issues for $1.50 each postpaid.
Members of the Society may purchase single issues for $1.25
each postpaid.
MEMBERSHIP: Dues for Regular Members are $5.00 per calendar
year. Contributing Membership dues are $10.00 per calendar-year.
The only difference between a Regular and a Contributing Member
is that the Contributing Member pays more in dues for the work of
the Society. Where no participation in the efforts of the Society
is made, a subscription rather than a membership is in order. The
Board of Directors has the privilege of approving all applications
for memberships.
Individuals, libraries, societies, interested business institutions,
and amateur or professional genealogists may apply for
membership by writing to the Society and enclosing dues. Checks
or money orders should be made payable to the Texas State Genealogical
Society and mailed to the Treasurer, Mrs. Ralph A. Bickler,
809 West Sixteenth Street, Austin 1, Texas, along with a written
request for membership or a subscription.
Memberships and subscriptions are for the calendar year, and
all four issues of STIRPES are sent to new members and subscribers
joining the Society during the year.
