A San Antonio dispatch of the 16th
inst. eays: O ders were received to-
day for the eighteenth and twenty-
third United Staies infantry regiment?
stationed in Texas to proceed stonce
to New Orleans. These two regiments
comprise sixteen companies numbering-
about 1050 men.
Tbe six companies at Fort Sam
Houstin ULder command of Major
Charles Keller will leave Sunday af-
ternoon at 5 o'clock on a special train
for New Orleans. They will carry
80000 rounds of ammunition atd ra-
tions for thirty dajs. All available
transportation wiil be taken. This
movement will leave only tbe fifth
cavalry in Texas for use in quelling
distuibances along the Mexican front-
ier. The wind "blew great guns" aH yes-
terday and it was cold rainy raw and
unpleasant. But it cleared off this
morning and the day has been bright
oalmy and pleasant.
The Horse Show.
The exhibitions given by Professor
G.ea on Stturdav night and yesrday
eft-moon we i w 11 attended and tbe
au-Jieuues were highly entertained
One of the -horses handled was a bay
mare from the Transfer stables which
has been known as the "Queen of Kick
era." After the professor bad treated
her a-vhile he could cot provoke her
into kicking.
Mr. B as. bay mare that has been
noted halter puller was taken through
a course by the professor and soon cur
ed of t' alter pulling. Tha same animal
will be treated -this afternoon for being
afraid of a bicycle.
John Taylor's fine chestnut team
were harnessed up and driven .over
shooting fire crackers of which they
were very much afraid. Tbe off horee
who proved an obs'.ioate felljw bad
been treated for shyness and given
course of ba-s drum sleigh belle
rattling tin pans and a bind of mu ic
all or any of which he Sntlly became
convinced would not hurt him. The
fire cra'-kers with tbe combined
strength cf the team with the straight
bits were too much for the professor
and they got away with him but be
brought them up against tbe fence and
stoppjd them without doin any dam
age. He then bi ougnt them back into
the mildle of the riog buckled tbe
lines into the bits so to
make a powerful lever and
soon taught the team that shooting
bre-crakerc drum bells rattling pans
hyi' g paper etc. would not hur
them.
A bucking horse belonging to Mr
Seekamp from over the river gave th
audience a bne exhibition but tne-p.-o-
f s-or soon bad him so that the owner
was able to ride him borne without dif-
flcu'ty. The young man who rode him
was slightly bU'-t owing tt the riegiog
turning with him and lettirg bim un
der the borte.
One of Capilan Davia thoroughbred
race animals that hid never been in
harness and had a babit of throwing
herself backward' wben the surcingle
was tightened was completely subdued
and driven with the "queen of kick
ers" over fire cakers past flying pa
per and given other serera t s s.
Professor Gleason subd les tbe an-
nimal by firmness and showing them
that tbe objects which frighten will
not inflict pain.
Eight hundred and fifty men of the
F rnt infantry aod tbe baf.eriesof light
artillery stat'oned at San Francisco
were to have left on special trains yes
terday. They will Undoubtedly be en
route tody and pass through this city
Wednesday.
