the seals.
The Limited is ran on a cash basis.

source are accepted and not even the
special and private cars of railroad

without troubling him.
A NEW ORLEANS VIEW.
The Picayune Thinks We Have
Bad
Men In El Paso.
Hamilton Raynor special officer at
the G. H. depot who has been and gone
and done it and is now a full-fledged
benedict has returned from New Or-
leans with his bride.
Of him the Picayune has this to
lav;
Hamilton Raynor employed as
special officer on the Southern Pacific
railroad arrived in tie. city last Sat
urday on a visit. Mr. Ray
nor is well acquainted in this city
where he was located some years ago
but he is now stationed at
El Paso Texas where he has his head
q'-iarters. Mr. Raynor is one of the
most 6kilful as well as shrewd special
officers in the service of the great
Southern Pacific system and in El
Paso where there are bo many bad
characters and desperadoes a man of
trreat coolness and extraordinary nerve
i-i necessary sometimes to protect' the
property of the company and Mr.
Raynor is found to fill the bill admir-
ably." FREIGHT ON THE SANTA FE
Concentrates From Juarez to Pueblo
Machinery To Mexico.
"The Santa Fe" said F. B. Hough-
ton the central ueent thin morning-
"is 11 w hauliocr concentrates from the
Juarez concentrator of the Gugeen-
heimer weople to tbe'r Pueblo smelter.
"They seTn to alternate in sending
these concentrates first to Agua Ca-
lienfpg and then ta Pueblo.
'We arn sending down into Mexico
a steady stream of machinery mining
and merchandise euppl'e?. which f hows
eeneral good demand from tbat coun-
try. "Incidentally a railroad company in
this section much prefers a mining
camp to a farming community along
the line for the simple reason that the
miners must buy and ship in all their
supplies and 6bip out all their produce
while the farmers use their own pro-
duce live on it and knock tbe rail-
roads out of possible traffic."

' On the way out to toe ccast T. E.
Hunt the S. P.'s commercial agent
met Darbyshire. Darby was tired and
fell asleep. When he awoke at Oak-
land he saw himself in the" glass and
asked someone to identify him. Hunt
had pasted "Sunstt Limited" ads all
over his clothes and Darby found it
troublesome to answer the questions
fired at him.
A Contrast.
The warmly clad Mexican laborers
on the Juarez depot thought the weath
er mucbo Ino yesterday and laid off.
Out on St. Louis street a number of
Americanized Mexicans are making
'dobe bricks their trousers are rolled up
to the knees and their legs are bare.
With coats and vests off they wade in
to the wet and icy mud and work with
as much evident contentment as a boy
adlng in a brook in spring.
A Merited Appointment.
E. D. Scanlon left Tuesday for Car
denas Mexieo to accept a position as
roadmaster on the Tamplco branch of
the Mexican Central railway.
Tne many friends of Mr. Scanlon
will be gratified to know of his accept
ance of this new position which he is
in every way competent to fill.
Sparks From the Engine-
President C. B. Eddy of the White
Oaks is expected home tomorrow.

WOUNDED BY A DEER
Unusual Experience Of An El Paso
Hunting Party. Cut the Bucks
Throat.
El Paso can effer a new and most
unusual deer etory founded on actual
fact.
Saturday nicrht a party which in-
cluded Olfie Wafer of the G. H. shops
and Capt. Tom Bendy of the El Paso
police force went up the river after
wild cats.
During the hunt the dogs stirred up
soma animal in the brush along the
river tanks which showed fight and
refused to run.
"When the hunters closed in they
found the quarry to be a magnificent
buck whose branching horns and big
Doay maae ngnting preieraoie to run
ning in the close undergrowth.
As water on his horde came near
er tne buck which bad been hghtine
oil the dogs made a vicious charcre.
Tbe horse received tbe impact of the
rush full in tbe breast and
his neck and breast was torn by the
deer's sharp horns. As the horse
turned sharply tbe en-iaged buck
charged again and this time he
seriously cut Wafer's leg below the
knee. . .-. .4
Bendy tbe only man in the crowd
with a pistol now came up and firing
point blank at the deer thought be
had wounded him and jumped down
and grabbed him by the hortis.
The buck however was still unin-
jured and full of fight and tbe capiain
might have sustained serious injury if
a good bull dog at the deer's throat
had not held tbe struggling buck down
while Wafer out its throat with a hunt-
ing knife.
The deer was brought in in triumph
having been killed without being once
shot. Wafer's injured leg is dressed
daily by a doctor and keeps him from
work. '

rendition of the role of Leonte Sioi-

the part most agreeable and effective.
Mr. James showed an excellent

applause he deserved.
Miss Kidder as Hermione was con
