Kuhlman Resigns
To Accept Post
On W.P.A. Research
Clarence Kuhlman of the econo-
mics staff "f the North Texas State
Teachers College has resigned his
position at the Teachers College to
accept a post as assistant director
of a W. P. A study of various phas-
es ot municipal government in
N'orth Carolina, President W J
McConnell has announced.
The study, which will take from
18 months to two years to complete,
is being sponsored by North Caro-
lina University, and will incorporate
work already done by Kuhlman
toward his doctorate--a study of
municipal utilities in N'orth Caro-
lina. Kuhlman is in North Caro-
lina, where he assumed his new po-
sition this month.
Kuhlman joined the staff at
North Texas in 1936. He was on
leave the next two years working
toward his doctorate at the Uni-
versity of North Carolina. His
bachelor's and master's degrees
were received from the University
of Texas. He served as a member
of the committee on governmental
and social aspects of the Texas
Planning Board in 1936-1936 and
was public utilities research con-
sultant of the North Carolina
League of Municipalities in 1937-
1988.

velt's recent urge for the young
men of \merira to participate in
the expanded aviation program,
three young men and a score of
others in the Demonstration School

year Friday night in the recreation

department of industrial education,
and Miss Margaret Hays, former
sponsors of the club, were appoint
ed Gammadion sponsors for next
year, May 11, by Kappa Delta Pi,
sponsor club of the Gammadion
Society.

FORMAL RECEPTION
Approximately 30 C.L.C. mem-
bers were entertained with a for-
mal reception Friday night from
R until 9 o'clock at the home of
their sponsor, Miss Anna Alford.
The reception was held in the
garden, and a punch bowl surround-
ed by larkspur made the table cen-
terpiece Toasts were given to the
departing seniors, officers and
sponsor.
MEXICAN THEMES OBSERVED

A Mexican theme was carried
out in decorations, favors, and the
program at the Woman's Recrea-
tional Association banquet given
last Thursday night in the crystal
room of Marquis Hall.
Skill awards were presented to
members by Miss Edith Kubeck,
W.R.A. sponsor.
Guests included Miss Edith L.
Clark, dean of women; Mrs Mary
B. Wesson, assistant dean of
women; and Misses Beulah Harriss
and Donnie Cotteral of the phys-
ical education department.

The luncheon climaxing a year
marked by various social activities,

honor of the retiring members, and

society for freshmen and sopho-
mores.
More than one hundred invita-
