Jaunary 1, 2009
The Celebration of Life for Carlton Melebeck, 68, of Orange, will be Saturday at 11:00
a.m. at the Greater St. Paul Christian Fellowship. Bishop Raymond C. Young is the
pastor/teacher; Minister Franklin Gans will officiate. Rites of Christian Burial will
follow in Hollywood Cemetery under the direction of Sparrow Funeral Home. He died
December 26, 2008 at his residence. A native of Franklin, LA, he resided in Orange
since 1949. He is survived by 2 brothers, Larry Melebeck of Orange and Elliott
Melebeck of Rialto, CA, 4 sisters, Irene London of San Bernardino, CA, Cecile Judge
and Audrey Garrick both of Orange, and Diane Richard of Lawtell, LA.

Johnnie Margaret Rye Hill, 82, of Orange, died Wednesday, December 31, 2008, at
The Meadows in Orange. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, January 7,
2009, at the 5th St. location of Claybar funeral Home. Reverend David Berkheimer of
Community Church in Orange officiating. Interment will follow at Orange Forest Lawn
Cemetery in West Orange. Johnnie was born December 17, 1926, in Kountze to John
Morgan and Rosie Lee Anderson Rye. She was preceded in death by her husband,
Richard Lewis Hill, parents, Rosie and John Rye and great grandson, Kory Smith. She is
survived by her daughter; Cherrice Smith and husband Robert of Orange and son Richard
John Hill of Orange; three grandchildren and seven great grandchildren and one great
great grandson.

Lewis C. Gunstream, Jr., 79, of Orange, TX, passed away Monday, January 5, 2009 at
the Harbor Hospice House in Beaumont, TX. Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m.
Thursday, January 8, 2009 at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange. Officiating will be Rev.
Barry Bradley, pastor of First Baptist church in Orange. Burial will follow at Autumn
Oaks Cemetery. Mr. Gunstream was a live long resident of Orange. He retired from
Firestone after 33 years. He was an avid gardener and he loved His Lord. He was a
faithful member of First Baptist Church, Orange. He was preceded in death by his
parents, Mollie and Lewis C. Gunstream, Sr. Those left to cherish his memory are his
wife of 56 years, Nancy; their children, Terry Ferguson and husband, Tracy of Colorado
City, TX, Lynda Gunstream and husband John Bailey Heard of Orange, Holly Brown and
husband David of Grand Junction, CO, Mark Gunstream and wife Susan of Orange; six
grandchildren; aunts, Mattie Trahan and Katie Vaughn of Orange. Serving as pallbearers
will be Gerald Rach, J.D. Quarles, Charles Phillips, Mark Ferrell, Tracy Ferguson and
John Heard. Honorary pall bearers will be the deacons of First Baptist Church of Orange.
For those who wish, memorials may be made to the new building fund of First Baptist
Church, P. O. Box 1453, Orange, TX. 77631.
Era Wesson Breaux, 87, of Orange, died Monday, January 5, 2009, at Harbour Hospital
of Southeast Texas in Orange. Graveside serevice and entombment will be 10:00 a.m.
Friday, January 9, 2009 at St. Mary Catholic Cemetery and Mausoleum in Orange.
Claybar Funeral Home of Orange will be in charge of services. Era was born January 29,34
